"Miracle in Me"

" The LORD will accomplish what concerns me;  THY lovingkindness, O LORD is everlasting." Psalm 138:8
Dear Praying Friends and Family,
     I've been thinking a lot about what to share with you this week and after writing most of this, i am amazed at what GOD led me to share with you, because this wasn't what i have been thinking about:).  But, these emails are HIS emails and the only thing i have to share is what HE puts in my heart and writes through my weakness so ..."i don't have to know the reason,  I will keep on trusting GOD."
  My heart continues to be full and in awe at what the LORD has done and continues to do in answer to long time prayers HE put in my heart several years ago for Tim Greene.
    If you've been following these emails for the past several years now you know the story of how i met Tim at the Environmental Health Clinic in Dallas about seven years ago.  Tim was so very sick when he arrived he couldn't hardly walk, he was in a wheelchair and he had been close to death several times.  Tim experienced severe headaches, numbness in his legs, and could not be around the slightest hint of mold for several years without it making him severely sick.  Because of this GOD redirected his life and moved his family to the beautiful beach in Ocean Isle, North Carolina from the beautiful mountains of Boone, NC where he was raised.  Before Tim got sick, he was on the road sharing the good news of JESUS CHRIST and singing the praises of HIS SAVIOR with his brother Tony, and sis in law Taranda. Tim had sang many, many years with his Dad, sis, Kim, and brother Tony before that. Tim was also the pastor of Westview Baptist Church, and had a recording studio where he recorded the Greene's music, as well as many other singers.  When he got sick, Tim had to give all these things up, and move to the beach where GOD has kept him for the last six years. He and his dear wife, Amy and daughter Brittany all were uprooted.  Not too long after their move...GOD blessed Tim and Amy with a miracle baby, Brooklyn who will be 6 in December.  Up until May a year ago, Tim would get so sick when he went inland from the mold, that GOD pretty much confined him to the beach.
    A year before Tim was miraculously healed, GOD laid it on his heart that HE was going to heal Tim.  Tim thought about that and prayed and wondered when that healing was going to come.  That year before he was healed, and those months before he was healed were filled with more great trials in Tim's life.
     Last August, my family was getting ready to leave the beach, where we were visiting with our friends the Hembree's, when i got a call from Tim and he told me about the miraculous healing that GOD had done in his life.  He told me how he was traveling every weekend sharing what GOD had done for him and singing songs of praise and encouragement wherever GOD opened the door for him to share.  That was so amazing to me....all those years that Tony and Taranda sang around here, and as glad as i was to see them, i always wondered if i would ever get to see Tim and his family.  I was always so glad to see Tony and Taranda, yet there was an ache in my heart for this one the LORD had put such a burden in my heart to pray for.
     In November of last year, Tim and his daughter Brittany came to a church right across from our restaurant in Greenbriar, Al.   I can't tell you what an amazing thing this was for me...after all the prayers, all the silence...and GOD did a miracle, healed Tim, and delivered him and his daughter at Greenbriar Baptist, a church right across from our restaurant to share his healing testimony and sing the praises of GOD.
     This past Friday night, GOD did another miracle .  For the first time in years, Tim was reunited with his dear sis, Kim, on stage in Cullman, Al. just three days after burying their dear brother, Tony Greene.  Tim and Kim, along with Kim's husband Dean sang "Miracle in Me," one of their most popular and powerful songs that GOD gave Phil Cross many years ago.  Dean sang Tony's part and did a great job.  As i shared last week, we had hoped this might be a reuniting of Tony, Kim and Tim getting to sing together on stage, but GOD had another plan, and took Tony HOME to be with HIM in heaven just a little over a week before.
    What a powerful testimony of this dear family's faith in GOD as they didn't miss a beat singing praises to our LORD JESUS CHRIST.  At the funeral they sang HIS praises, beside their brother's casket, and three days later, they were continuing that in front of the audience in Cullman.  Those who remembered Tim on the road with the Greenes were so surprised when Tim Greene was announced and came walking out on that stage.  Kim and Tim sang the song they sang at Tony's graveside, "Go Rest High on that Mountain,"  "Miracle in Me," "If You'll Move Over Just a Little Bit, I'll Help You Carry Your Load," and "When I Knelt," the song Tim wrote after praying a year that GOD would give him a special song explaining the gospel that would reach people's hearts.  This was the Greene's first number one song, I think.  Tim wrote that song on the back of a MacDonald's bag one night somewhere out in Oklahoma.  Tony used to tell that story everywhere they went, how Tim came up to him on the bus, crying over the song GOD gave him that he had scribbled down on the bag.
     Tim sang one of my favorite songs, "I Don't Have to Know the Reason."  It was the first song i ever heard of the Greene's that gripped my heart.  The LORD woke me up from my sleep to hear these words Tim was singing, "I don't have to know the reason, i don't have to ask HIM why, I know HE knows what's best for me, best for my life, so i'll daily surrender to what HE has for me, I will keep on trusting GOD." Tim wrote these words, several years ago, after someone sent him a card asking what kind of sin did he do that GOD was punishing him and allowed him to get sick.  Tim who said it takes a lot to make him angry, threw the card in the trash, and penned those words above...GOD had a plan, and purpose for Tim's sickness and gave him this beautiful song that has encouraged so many hearts including mine.  This night in Cullman, Al...three days after burying his baby brother, the words again were especially meaningful and powerful as so many hearts there were hurting in the loss of Tony Greene who was scheduled to sing there that night with his family.
      As i shared above i had not intended at all on writing about Tim and his family this week,  but when i sat down and started typing this is what the LORD had for me to share with you.   Maybe, like me, there is someone who needs to know that JESUS is REAL, like the Greenes know HIM and JESUS cares for you and me so very much that HE loves us intimately.  If you had been the only one, GOD would have sent HIS SON to die for you HE loves us so much, HE loved us unto death.   One of my favorite songs that Tony sang is "All for Me," and it says, "If I had been the only one, YOU would have done it still for love, what grace untold, what love indeed, "All for me, All for me."
    Last night in Charles Spurgeon's "Morning and Evening," I read this devotion about the strong love of the our LORD JESUS CHRIST, the love that saved the Greenes and gives them the grace to sing about HIS love in the "dark night of their soul:"
"Evening: Strongest Love
"Love is strong as death."--Song of Solomon 8:6
Whose love can this be which is as mighty as the conqueror of monarchs, the destroyer of the human race? Would it not sound like satire if it were applied to my poor, weak, and scarcely living love to Jesus my Lord? I do love Him, and perhaps by His grace, I could even die for Him, but as for my love in itself, it can scarcely endure a scoffing jest, much less a cruel death. Surely it is my Beloved's love which is here spoken of--the love of Jesus, the matchless lover of souls. His love was indeed stronger than the most terrible death, for it endured the trial of the cross triumphantly. It was a lingering death, but love survived the torment; a shameful death, but love despised the shame; a penal death, but love bore our iniquities; a forsaken, lonely death, from which the eternal Father hid His face, but love endured the curse, and gloried over all. Never such love, never such death. It was a desperate duel, but love bore the palm. What then, my heart? Hast thou no emotions excited within thee at the contemplation of such heavenly affection? Yes, my Lord, I long, I pant to feel Thy love flaming like a furnace within me. Come Thou Thyself and excite the ardour of my spirit.

"For every drop of crimson blood
Thus shed to make me live,
O wherefore, wherefore have not I
A thousand lives to give
?"
Why should I despair of loving Jesus with a love as strong as death? He deserves it: I desire it. The martyrs felt such love, and they were but flesh and blood, then why not I? They mourned their weakness, and yet out of weakness were made strong. Grace gave them all their unflinching constancy--there is the same grace for me. Jesus, lover of my soul, shed abroad such love, even Thy love in my heart, this evening.
     When Tony died, it was such a shock.  Tony had sung just a week before at the NQC and with the Greene's you are always expecting GOD to do a miracle at the ninth hour.  GOD did do a miracle...when Tony was seven years old, GOD called Tony Greene to be his child, and Tony trusted JESUS as his LORD and Savior.  I can't remember if it was at their church, Westview Baptist, where Tim would later pastor, or if it was at home, but i think i remember him kneeling at the piano bench wherever it was to ask JESUS into his heart.  Thirty three years later, GOD would do another miracle, and take Tony's worn and torn body HOME to be with HIM forever and ever, because JESUS CHRIST died on a wooden cross two thousand years ago to pay the price for your sins and mine.  All who admit their sins to the LORD JESUS, believe in your heart that CHRIST died for you and confess HIM as your LORD and SAVIOR, will receive a "Miracle in YOU," just as Tony Greene did...and his family has sang about for so many years all over this country.
"For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only SON, that whosoever believe on HIM will not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
    It's a Miracle, our salvation, to be born again, and become a new creature and child of GOD.  Just ask someone who knows HIM and whose life HE has turned upside down by JESUS CHRIST.  Just ask the Greenes who have endured so very much to sing and tell the glorious gospel of our LORD JESUS CHRIST all over this land.  Tim and Kim could not sing the praises of their LORD JESUS at their brother's funeral, or three days later in Cullman, Al, if JESUS had not done a "Miracle in Me" and saved them and gave them a new heart, and HIS HOLY SPIRIT and put HIS desires in them to obey HIM.  HE has given them a greater hope and faith that one day they will see their brother again for all eternity because of what CHRIST JESUS has done for them.  Because of HIS love in them, they are compelled to sing and tell of their great SAVIOR's love for us.
    My hope and desire, GOD's hope and desire is that you will surrender to HIM and turn to HIM in faith and repentance to save you from the everlasting punishment of hell.  HE longs to "deliver us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of HIS beloved SON,"  where HE longs to lavish HIS love upon you.
     Those miners in Chile who were rescued this week were delivered from their domain of darkness after several weeks of being in the dark and separated from their loved ones. Their family and friends and the world were overjoyed as we watched them being pulled out one by one from their pit of darkness into the wonderful sunshine of this life and reunited with the family and friends.  As miner number two was interviewed he credited the rescuers with "giving me my life back."  Indeed they did temporarily, but JESUS CHRIST is the only one who can give LIFE eternally and HE paid the price with HIS own life...HE loved us unto death.   JESUS said, "I am the Way, the Truth, no man comes to the FATHER but through ME, "in John 14:6.  The domain of darkness in hell goes on forever and ever and ever.  Please trust HIM today before it is too late...none of us are promised the next minute.  Tony's death was a surprise and yours and mine may be too...are you ready to meet your CREATOR today?  Will you spend eternity in the domain of eternal darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth?   Are will you be reunited with your loved ones who have trusted in the LORD JESUS and spend eternity with CHRIST and with them?
       Tony Greene was  ready, not because of all the miles he had traveled  sharing the gospel and singing of GOD's faithfulness and all the suffering he had gone through to do that, but because of what CHRIST did for him on the cross 2000 years ago. Tony Greene accepted that gift of salvation and CHRIST as his LORD and SAVIOR as a young boy and he was ready when GOD called him HOME.  Tony was ready to be with HIM and with his Daddy, and Grandaddy and loved ones who have gone on before him.  Tony doesn't want us to be sad for his HOMEgoing, he wants us to "Celebrate Me Home."  This is a wonderful tribute to his life to the song, "Celebrate Me Home,"  sung by the Perry's  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PNC2WaN0-Q&feature=related

    I included some video from the great night in Cullman last week of the songs Tim sang with his sis Kim. I pray they will be a great encouragement to your heart as you listen.  I am so humbled at GOD's ways and  praise HIM for WHO HE is and for HIS great and wonderful and unending love for us.

 Miracle in Me

Oh To be there when the Savior,
Spoke with a great command;
And to witness in a wonder,
Of His wonder working hand;
No miracle has caught my eyes,
To cause my heart to see;
But by faith I'm led to realize,
There's a miracle in me.

And I have never seen the thousands fed,
Or the blind made to see;
I have never watched him raise the dead,
But I know when He lifted me;
It's a wonder right before my eyes,
Close enough to see;
In my heart is where this wonder lies,
There's a miracle in me.

If we have a faith that's measured,
By the smallest mustard seed;
All our mountains will be mastered,
By the Master of all our needs;
And if we have a child-like trust,
He said, He'll do the greatest things;
He will heal the sick, He will raise up the dead,
Be a miracle in me.

And I have never seen the thousands fed,
Or the blind made to see;
I have never watched him raise the dead,
But I know when He lifted me;
It's a wonder right before my eyes,
Close enough to see;
In my heart is where this wonder lies,
There's a miracle in me.

In my heart is where this wonder lies,
There's a miracle in me.
It's in me.
      I know i've already used the title "Miracle in Me" somewhere along the way, but i felt led to use it again in this email...it just seems like that's all i could name this one.  Thank you, dear ones, for your  continued prayers for the Greene family during this difficult time. There are many decisions to be made, and please continue to remember this special family.  This coming Sunday, Oct. 17 would have been Tony's 42 birthday...this is going to be a tough day for Taranda and the Greene family.  Please remember them especially on Sunday.
     Tim  will be sharing his testimony and singing at Indian Grave Baptist Church this coming Sunday night near Clanton, Al. if any of you living down that way are able to hear him.  He is sharing Sunday morning also down that way, i'm just not sure where.  Indian Grave is the church that my husband pastored before we moved back to Athens due to my sickness.  What a special gift GOD has done to open the hearts of this church so dear to us to  have Tim  come and share his testimony and sing.

      GOD has heard and answered the prayers HE put in my heart years ago for Tim   "exceeding abundantly beyond all i ask or think."  I stand in awe of HIM and HIS faithfulness to hear and answer our prayers no matter how long ago they were prayed, and we have long forgotten.  HE has answered my cries for Tim and continues to and I praise my LORD for HIS power and lovingkindness.

     We have been very blessed to be able to spend time with HB this week on her fall break.  Sat. night the kids and I enjoyed going to see Chris Tomlin in concert together and eating at IHOP afterwards.  HB and i enjoyed spending the day together Wednesday getting haircuts, shopping, eating at Earthfare, and visiting our friends the Radcliffes.  HB will be heading back to the University of Mobile on Sunday.  Please remember her as she travels, and for all that the LORD desires to accomplish in her life down there.  John Mac has about six weeks left and he will graduate from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in December. Please remember him in your prayers as he desires very much to finish strong and he's got some tough classes this semester. His allergies have been bothering him this fall, so please remember him for that...that GOD would use it in his life to shape and mold him as HE has me.  We sure have enjoyed having him around home more in the evenings the past month as he has been staying here during allergy season.  Please remember my dear husband as he works so hard to love and provide for our family.     I sure would appreciate you remembering me as i travel to Dallas next week for a little "tune up."  GOD always has special blessings for me as i go, and i am sure this trip will be no exception.  Please pray for me as i travel, for all the plans and purposes the LORD has for this trip. I'm looking forward to spending time with my niece Lizzie and her husband Jonathon on my way out there.  We are  "under construction," as Ruth Bell Graham says," and GOD's been doing a little hammering around here lately.  Your prayers mean so very much to us. I love ya'll and appreciate you so very much.
                                                                                             With all HIS love,

"LORD, YOU are so Wonderful to Me" Tony Greene's Celebration Service

Church Tony Greene grew up in and is buried behind on the hilltop.

  "Sorrowful yet always rejoicing..." II Cor. 6:10

Dear Wonderful Praying Friends and Family,
        This week, the LORD JESUS has blessed me beyond measure and my heart is full of HIS love and tender mercies. The LORD JESUS blessed me immeasurable with the privilege of going to North Carolina and being able to see Tony's dear family and share in his wonderful Celebration and Homegoing service on Monday night near Charlotte, North Carolina, and then attend his graveside service in Boone on Tuesday afternoon.  What a dear blessing to my heart to see Tony's family during this time of their tremendous loss and be blessed through the LORD JESUS shining so strongly through through sorrow.
    Before i share about the week though, i have an important announcement and prayer request to make-Hannah Beth is coming home today!  This will be her first time home since going to the University of Mobile in August...wow.  She has a midterm this morning, and then will be making the five hour trip this afternoon.  Ya'll please remember her in your prayers special today as she has her midterm and driving home.
We can't wait to see her!!!  She is on fall break this week so looking forward to getting to spend time with my Pumpkin.
    Tonight in Cullman, at the Cullman Civic Center at 7:00p.m. Tony's sister Kim, Southern Gospel's favorite Female Singer this year, and for many years, will be singing with her family the Hoppers.  It is a good possibility that Tim Greene may be joining his sister to sing for the first time in a very long time on stage. Tony, Kim, and Tim grew up singing with their Dad, and GOD blessed this dear family with the most wonderful harmony and sweet spirit of the LORD JESUS.  We were hoping that Tony, Kim, and Tim would all be singing tonight for the first time in a long time on stage...but "GOD had another plan," and Tony was called up to sing in glory where we are looking forward to joining him, one day soon i hope.  So, i just want to encourage you if you are thinking about coming...it is going to be a glorious night in our LORD JESUS. I had the privilige of hearing Tim, Kim, and Taranda sing at Tony's graveside earlier this week, and "It Sure Sounds Like the Angels to Me."  As you know if you've been reading these emails, the LORD healed Tim Greene from his mold poisoning last year.  Tim is able to preach and sing for the first time in years. You'd better plan to arrive early because it was a sellout last year.  LORD, YOU are so wonderful...and i'm so excited about what YOU are going to do tonight to bring glory and honor to YOURself. Please pray for Kim and Tim as they sing through their sorrow tonight, the praises of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. If you can't  attend please pray that JESUS CHRIST will be glorified, through the souls that will be saved, and lives encouraged in HIM...through all that is said and done.  The proceeds from this concert will go to Tony Greene's medical fund.

   Also, i wanted to ask you to please continue to remember my friend Shirley and her daughter Mishel and family in your prayers.  Shirley had a biopsy on the tumors in her brain this week, and it confirmed the tumors are malignant and the cancer originated in other places in her body.  There are many decisions to be made as Mishel lives out of state and plans to move here to care for her Mother.  Thank you for remembering this dear family in your prayers.
    Praise the LORD for the good report Jerry Todd got back on his CT scan this week...he had some "spots," on his lungs, and the report came back good.  Jerry and Louise head up our dulcimer group here in Athens, and are so dear to my heart and all who know them.

    My LORD has blessed me beyond measure as HE made the way through my dear husband and circumstances  of attending Tony Greene's Celebration Service and graveside service earlier this week.  What a dear blessing it was to my heart to be able to travel to near Charlotte, North Carolina to Indian Trails Baptist Church where Tony's Celebration service was held Monday evening.  It was such a sweet time to get to share my sorrow with the dear Greene family and be a part of celebrating Tony's  life.  So many dear friends came to share their sorrow with the Greene family as many of them stood in line for nearly three hours and they had to finally end the visitation time in order to start the Celebration service.
     As you can imagine, there was a lot of great singers there at the service, singing many of Tony's favorite songs that Taranda picked out to Celebrate his life. Tony's pastor Rev. Mike Whitson of First Baptist Indian Trail spoke of Tony's passion to win souls for CHRIST and his desire to not disappoint people that kept him so steadfast serving the LORD even when he struggled so with his body.
    It was a funny service as many funny stories were told about Tony, and it was sorrowful and uplifting to the LORD JESUS in everything...well "El Vira," at the end may be debatable:).As Bill Gaither shared, most singers you have to introduce, Tony Greene you had to explain:).  El Vira was one of Tony's favorite songs by the Oak Ridge Boys and they introduced it through video and the Triumphant Quartet did a great job of singing it.
   The Bill Gaither Homecoming Choir was there...and you talk about "Shouting Time,"  it was clapping, hand raising, and praising the LORD time as Jason Crabb, Karen Peck, Mark Trammell and many others sang out to lead us in songs such as "Farther Along,""In the Sweet By and By" and other songs...
     But as wonderful as the singing was, as powerful as the preaching was...it was nothing compared to the "sacrifice of praise," that Taranda, Tony's wife sang to our LORD JESUS, "Wonderful to Me."  I was amazed, as i am sure everyone was when i saw Taranda's name in the program that she was planning to sing.  When i saw the name of the song, i thought, that's sweet, she will be singing "Wonderful to Me," about Tony.  I had no idea that was Tony's favorite song Taranda sang with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, and it is a glorious praise song to our LORD JESUS CHRIST.  Some blest soul posted it on you tube, so you can watch Taranda sing it...be sure and listen to the words closely and watch her sing it to the very end where she prayes the sweetest prayer. For the first minute or so is pastor Jim Cymbala of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church.  This dear church in New York City has "adopted" the Greenes and the Greenes frequently go up to New York to sing with the choir.  If you don't read anything else...please take time to watch Taranda sing this "Wonderful to Me," and offer up such a beautiful "sacrifice of praise," to our LORD.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1cW94WER88
     At the end of the message Tony's preacher, Mike Whitson preached, he gave an invitation and at least 14 people prayed to recieve JESUS as their LORD and SAVIOR at Tony's Celebration service...that is not counting the untold thousands who watched the service on internet around the world and may have come to know CHRIST.   Tony Greene, I'm sure, was pleased that 14 people will be joining him in heaven one day.  What a blessing to live your life for CHRIST in such a way that people continue to be added to the kingdom of LORD after you are with HIM, and people are encouraged in the LORD JESUS because of your life and death.  What a legacy that Tony Greene has left behind and what an example for his little girls Belle, 6 and Josie 2 and for all of us to follow.
     ‎"Only one life, twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last, and when I am dying how happy I'll be, if the lamp of my life has burned out for Thee.." - C.T. Studd, missionary to China, Africa, and India
    The next day, the Greene family received friends at the Hampton Funeral Home  in Boone, NC where the Greene family is from.  Afterwards, a graveside service was held for Tony behind the church where he grew up on top of a hill that overlooks the beautiful mountains of Boone.  What a sweet, sweet time in the LORD this was as Br. Jack Lassiter, one of Tony's best friends shared some more funny stories about Tony and serious words and the Primitive Quartet sang some of Tony's favorite songs.  The sweetest time on top of the mountain was when Tim, Kim, and Taranda sang, "Go Rest High on that Mountain," about their brother and husband.  They sang "Miracle in Me,", "It Sure Sounds Like the Angels to Me," and truthfully it did sound like the angels singing when these three dear heartbroken siblings and widow of Tony's sang.  Then little Belle sang her Daddy's favorite song, "I Am a Promise," and it was so sweet.

     In the pictures are the mountains overlooking where Tony is buried beside his beloved Daddy Everette Greene and the  beatiful marker on top of Tony's casket that is the picture of the mountians, with "Hold On," engraved on top.
     I can't tell you what the Greene's example to me in death means to me personally.  I know their hearts are broken yet remain steadfast praising their SAVIOR and trusting HIM for HIS plan for their lives.
       I didn't realize it til this week but the Greene's have a song that is number two right now in the Singing News Chart called, "When GOD Has Another Plan."  When i first heard that song about three years ago from the "Far Down the Road,"CD, it gripped my heart and encouraged me so much.  Little did any of us know, how very true those words would be to dear Taranda and her family as she sang them:
    "When GOD has another plan, walk on and just say yes,
     When GOD has another plan, be assured that HE knows best,
     When all your dreams are shattered rest in HIS sufficient grace,
     You don't have to understand, when GOD has another plan."

   I know that ya'll will be faithful to remember dear Taranda, and her two little ones, Belle and Josie, and the whole Greene family in your prayers.  They are such a dear precious family and GOD indeed has another plan for them...HE loves them and you and I so very much.
    After the graveside service, i made my way back to Asheville slowly going down the Blue Ridge Parkway and the LORD encouraged me so very much as I listened to Taranda sing on CD "Redeemer," and HE reminded me of some of the mountains HE has moved for me in my life.  Coming up to Boone 5 years ago for the Greene's Jubilee was one of them, and now 5 years later, HE had been faithful to bring me back to Boone to be with this dear family that i love so much and has ministered to me and so many others so very much.  My heart was encouraged that just as HE has moved mountains in my past, HE will continue to "perfect that which concerneth me," and move mountains for me in my future.
    I had a great time enjoying GOD's creation as i traveled along the Parkway and looked at mountain, after mountain...oh my goodness it's beautiful up there.

 I got out and hiked a little at Linville Falls, and then continued on my journey.  When i realized i still had 70 miles to go before i got back to Asheville where i was staying, i decided to cut off to the main road and got a little lost and going down a curvy mountain road on the side of the mountain.  Well...if you know me very well, you know i don't do curvy mountain roads well on the edge of the moutain very well...i have this little phobia called "fear of heights."  By this time, i was overloaded with "trees," that i'm allergic too, and everything else i was around, and i was getting panicky.  I hate that feeling, but it was there, and the LORD JESUS helped me make it down that mountain, as HE does every mountain in my life, and i went straight to the Chelshire Racquet and Fitness Club where HE blessed me with a free pass the first night, and sauned.  That helped calm me down, and thankfully i made it back to the Motel 6 i was staying at near Asheville and the rest of the evening was uneventful.
     I stayed an extra day up there in Asheville, because our floors at home were being "regrouted," from where the grout cracked from this spring.  That really turned out to be a blessing in disguise, one i love the color of the new grout (the other grout had changed colors when they mixed it and looked a little should i say, orange:).  Two my washer and dryer that had been reversed in my utility room when they put the floors down in the spring are put back in the original way now...GOD is so wonderful to me.  That extra day i stayed in Asheville, i had planned on going downtown and looking around, but GOD had another plan, and i ended up staying in the back of my car most of the day, and spending some sweet time with the LORD.I had taken some allergy medicine that didn't agree with me too well, so GOD used that to keep me in spending time with my LORD.  Later on that evening, i ventured out to workout and sauna, and ate supper at Earthfare there in Asheville.
     Yesterday morning, GOD had another wonderful blessing in store for me as i went to Billy Graham's Training Center, "The Cove," which was right across the interstate from where i was staying at Exit 55.   I cannot begin to tell you what an inspiration that short tour of the chapel was to me...of how GOD can use us ordinary people so mightily through the power of HIS HOLY SPIRIT.  Billy Graham gives all the glory to the LORD JESUS for what HE has done through his life to lead millions of people to CHRIST.  If you ever are in the Asheville area make sure you make time to visit there, and you can go on line and learn about the many conferences they offer at "The Cove." http://www.thecove.org/.  This weekend, Franklin Graham, Billy's son, was leading a Medical Mission's Conference, and i would have loved to attended that...maybe next year.  I didn't realize it when i was in Charlotte,  but Billy Graham's library is in Charlotte, North Carolina where his wife, Ruth Bell Graham  is buried. Next time i go back that way, i definitely want to go there.
    Where i sauned was the same exit as Montreat where Billy Graham's home is.
   LORD, YOU are so wonderful to me...and i thank YOU for the blessing of being able to travel so this week and be with my dear friends and meet new special friends.  I thank you for the beauty of YOUR creation YOU allowed me to enjoy, and i thank YOU for safe traveling mercies and the plans that YOU have for each and every one of us..."plans for good and not for evil to give us a future and a hope."  Because YOU live, and YOU died for us, LORD JESUS we can face tomorrow with joy, though our hearts are sorrowful.  Please wrap your love around the entire Greene family and help them to know how very much YOU love them.  Thank you, LORD JESUS for being so wonderful to me.

    When i returned home, our housekeeper had cleaned up much of the dust that was all over the house from the old grout being removed and had returned much of the food to the pantry.  I cannot not tell you what a tremendous blessing that was to me for the LORD to provide through my dear husband someone to do all of that cleaning for me that i can't do with my allergies.  Dear Mrs. Kelley is back today continuing to clean up the dust...and i am so thankful, and so thankful for my dear brother having my floors redone...they look beautiful!
      Thank you for letting me share the wonderful blessings that my LORD has lavished me with this week.  I love you and I hope to see some of you tonight in Cullman for a wonderful night of worship with the Greene family, the Hoppers, and Gold City.  GOD bless you and thank you for your prayers for them and my loved ones.

                                                         With all HIS love,

Celebrating the Life of Tony Greene

 ‎"Only one life, twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last, and when I am dying how happy I'll be, if the lamp of my life has burned out for Thee.." - C.T. Studd, missionary to China, Africa, and India

            "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of HIS saints."  Psalm 116:15

(October 17, 1968 - September 28, 2010)

     Dear Praying Friends and Family,
                  Your kind words and prayers have meant so much to me this week.   I know GOD has heard your prayers to minister HIS peace and comfort  to the Greene family.  Thank ya'll so very much for ministering to me in the loss of my friend Tony Greene who died earlier this week unexpectedly.
               I've had a lot of memories going through my head about Tony this week.  Many of them i have had the honor and privilege to share with some of you as i dragged you to see the Greenes with me through the years:).    Thank you for sharing them with me,  their testimonies that have so encouraged my weary heart, and their music that always magnified our LORD JESUS.

                I don't know exactly where to began except at the beginning when i met Tony's brother Tim in Dallas where we shared the same doctor.  I had never heard of the Greene's before, but when Tim sent me a couple of their CD's, i woke up listening to a song "I Don't Have to Know The Reason," one night, that went to the depths of my soul....and from there a relationship was budding that continues to this day and will through all eternity.   Hannah Beth and i, and  my friend Darlene and  her daughter Natalie,  went to see the Greenes over on the other side of Guntersville, Al at Rocky Branch Holiness Church for the very first time bout seven years ago. I remember Tim walking in the church and giving me a hug, but i didn't hardly even notice Tony that night.  The second time i saw them, i noticed Tony limping a little, but still didn't talk to him...Tim was with them, and i was getting to know Tim, and Tony's wife Taranda.  That night, our friends the Wahl's met us over at Skyline, Al to see the Greenes.   Little did i know that Tim would not be able to continue to travel with the Greene's because of his mold sickness.  Except for a rare couple of other times Tim tried to sing with the Greenes, it would be the last time i would see and rarely  hear from Tim except through Tony and Taranda when they came and sang in our area....and sing they did.  That first year i met them, i was blessed to go and  hear the Greene's 8 times!   My family said they were going to think i was stalking them, but Tony and Taranda never treated me that way at all.   As i  gradually got to know Tony...i was intimidated by him at first, why i don't know, but i was.  Gradually, i grew to love him very much.  No matter how busy he was, he always made time to tell me how Tim and Amy were doing...his words were like water feeding my thirsty soul.  Little did i realize that during the blessing of getting to go hear the Greene's that first year so often that  GOD was giving me a "Texas" size love and desire to pray for Tim  and his family, as Tony would cry during the concerts sharing his burden for his brother.  Tony Greene loved his brother and was not ashamed to cry and share his heart about his condition.  Tim was really struggling at times and wasn't able to return calls too well, and his wife was struggling also.     As i began going to their concerts, my heart was so ministered to through the Greenes.  Their songs were so very encouraging to me in my own struggles.  Those first few years of knowing the Greenes, Tony was so diligent to take up love offerings for Tim to help him and Amy out with their huge medical expenses.   He would ask for prayer for Tim.  Tony loved his brother and missed him being on the road with him, and continued to care for his family when Tim could no longer travel with the Greenes.

     Somewhere along the line, Tony's own health problems began coming to the forefront...earlier this week i found this video on FB of Tony's testimony to share with you Tony's story with his health problems http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPXBnJOSx48

     The amazing thing about GOD through Tony is whatever the LORD allowed in Tony's life, and Taranda's and the Greene family...Tony had a way of turning it into a testimony of GOD's faithfulness.  Tony learned well from his Daddy who taught his children to live by faith...that GOd would supply all their needs in CHRIST JESUS. And that's what the Greene's did- they went all over singing and telling of GOD's faithfulness in their lives in the midst of their trials, and the Greenes had many trials.  On top of their health concerns,  and financial concerns for huge medical bills, the doctors told Tony and Taranda they would never be able to have children.  The LORD blessed them with Belle, 6 and Josie who is 2.  Most weeks,  The Greenes would leave out on their big bus at midnight on Weds evening to drive through the night to reach their destination in plenty of time to sing for Thursday night.  Tony Greene grew up singing for JESUS and he continued singing for JESUS til right before he died after 32 years on the road, spending most weekends, Thursday through Sunday in a bus traveling to various places singing and sharing GOD's praises. It didn't matter how small or how large, the Greenes sang their hearts out. Tony  was at the National Quartet Convention a week before he died singing the praises of his faithful LORD.  I had the opportunity to go to that, but didn't...i sure wish i had of now.

      As you can hear from Tony's testimony, these past several years have been very challenging physically for Tony.  I have seen Tony many nights when he was barely able to walk and get up on the podium to sing.  Those would be the nights the LORD was the strongest through Tony's weakened body and would grip my heart and the congregation the most.  The LORD JESUS promises to be strong in our weakneses, and i learned from Tony and Tim Greene to be transparent about my weaknesses that the power of CHRIST would rest upon me.  The power of the LORD was so very strong through Tony Greene as he would weep and have you crying one moment, and laughing hysterically a few minutes later at one of his crazy stories.  I could hear Tony tell a joke 50 times and it would be just as funny hearing Tony telling it the first time.  Tony had way of snorting when he laughed that you just couldn't help but laugh at Tony for snorting when he told the joke.  I'm laughing as i write this just thinking about him laughing at himself and snorting.  My family definitely accuses me of picking up Tony's "snort," when i get to laughing sometimes and let out a snort or two.  Okay, i confess i probably did pick up my snort from Tony. This video below isn't Tony snorting, but it's just a funny video of him laughing that was on Tim's daughter's FB last night.  Tim and his wife, Amy are sitting beside Tony in the video.

 There were a lot of things i learned from Tony Greene besides "snorting:)

1) Tony taught me steadfastness in the midst of adversity...Tony Greene "wore out,  he didn't rust out for JESUS." When i heard that Tony had gone to be with JESUS, one of the first things i told Hannah Beth, who was my Greenes buddy as i drug her all over to concerts with me, was Tony Greene burned out for JESUS...he didn't rust out. He lived more in his short 41 years and did more for the LORD JESUS than most people in 20 lifetimes.  Up until last year or so, Tony had never missed a concert in 30 years....that was amazing steadfastness.   Tony Greene was such an example to me of keeping on keeping on in the midst of extreme adversity.  He had a call on his life to go and sing the Praises of our LORD JESUS CHRIST and proclaim the good news of JESUS.  In the midst of adversity Tony kept on marching by GOD's grace, until he could march no more.  Two summers ago, HB and i had the privilege of attending their Jubilee in NC which the Greene family conducted for over 30 years.  At that time, Tony had just had a port put in his stomach for dialysis, which he received on the bus 4 times a day.  I walked behind the stage one evening at the Jubilee and saw Tony sitting down bent double...someone had hit him jokingly in the stomach not knowing that Tony had just had surgery there. Last year, after Taranda gave Tony her kidney, they were back on the road in 3 weeks, and i saw them in Clanton, Al when Tony still had a 100 stitches in him.  He couldn't laugh because it hurt too much.
    This week in my Streams devo, was the quote i tried to find last week about GOD letting HIS children march through difficult circumstances.  I want to quote that again and more in depth because it is such a picture of  Tony Greene and his family's faithfulness to be a good soldier of JESUS CHRIST:
     See you not, then, that GOD may take away your comforts and your privileges, to make the better CHRISTians?  Why the LORD always trains HIS soldiers, not by letting them lie on feather beds, but by turning them out, and using them to forced marches and hard service.  HE makes them ford through streams, and swim through rivers, and climb mountains, and walk many a long march with heavy knapsacks of sorrow on their backs.  This is the way in which HE makes them soldiers-" C.H. Spurgeon

  2)   Tony taught me to praise the LORD all the time...even when he didn't feel like it,  he did it anyway.  A few years ago they sang a song called, "Living in the Middle of Love..." and i remember going to hear them during the time when Tim was so sick.  Tony would sing that song with a smile on his face, and sing praises to the LORD, even though his heart was so very heavy.  He didn't always  "feel," like singing the praises of the LORD but he did it in faith, and GOD honored that faith so very much.  I remember one year that was extremely difficult for them, and GOD honored the Greenes with a number one song that year, "Sky Full of Angels."

  3) Tony taught me to live by Faith.  Tony was a hard worker and had many business ventures, including owning his own funeral home.  But Tony Greene lived by faith in the LORD JESUS to provide their needs.  A few times, Tony called when they had a cancellation to see if i could get a place for them to sing.  The Greene's would come and sing their hearts out for JESUS and for a love offering, trusting the LORD  to provide for their needs and their needs were great.

  4) Tony taught me to love.  Tony made time for me and would always make time to tell me how Tim was doing.  He didn't realize what a need he was meeting in my heart to hear from Tim and Amy but Tony was a good man and was kind to me.  He blessed our family by coming to our home and sharing a few meals and fellowship with us...what a great desire of my heart that GOD gave me to spend time with the Greenes in our home.

  5) Tony taught me humility  . Tony was not ashamed to share his weaknesses.  When he first sung, "I Can't Even Walk Without YOU Holding My Hand," the power of GOD was so strong upon him as he shared his own weaknesses of being rebellious against his parents as a teenager and the humbling GOD had done in his life.  Sometimes Tony could barely walk as he walked down the aisle to sing, and sometimes he had to have Taranda or someone help him on stage because of the gout he suffered from and weakness from his kidney struggles.  Recently at the Gatlinburg Gathering, Tony fell on stage...and in true Tony fashion, he shared it, and made a joke about it.  He didn't try to cover up his weaknesses, but trusted the LORD to be strong through them. That lesson will always stick with me.

    I know there are many other things i could share about Tony and i probably will in the days to come as the LORD brings this special man to mind and the lessons i learned from Tony's life.  I read a quote on the FB site of Jeff Synder last night,  who sings with the Greenes . It sure does describe the life of Tony Greene, as he meant to do, and i hope and pray it will describe mine too...i want to burn out for JESUS, not rust out.

Anthony Elden Greene, known to most Southern Gospel music fans as "Tony," passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010, just before 4:30pm Eastern Time at the age of 41. Tony had been in Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., since September 21 due to several health complications.
Tony is survived by wife, TaRanda, and their children, Isabella (age 6) and Jocelyn (age 2). He is also survived by two brothers, Tim Greene and Ronnie Brookshire, sister Kim Greene Hopper, his mother, Carolyn Greene, his maternal grandmother, Snow Townsend, his paternal grandmother, Tressie Greene, and several aunts, uncles, and nieces. The son of Carolyn Greene and the late Everette Greene, Tony was born in Boone, N.C., on October 17, 1968, the youngest of three children. By the early 1980s, Tony and his siblings were singing Southern Gospel music professionally as The Greenes, garnering several No. 1 songs and appearing on the nation's leading concerts.
In addition to being noted as a gifted lead vocalist, Tony has also been included in the list of leading concert promoters of Southern Gospel music. Throughout the years, Tony's promotions encompassed dozens of states, while providing Christian music in not only churches and auditoriums, but also aboard cruises, bus tours and more. He was also a key factor of the success of the long-running Gospel Singing Jubilee multi-day concert held in Boone, N.C., for almost 30 years.
Tony married the former TaRanda Kiser on February 13, 2001. Together, they continued the ministry of the Greenes, while also being involved in several other ventures that include work with Abraham Productions (concert promotions featuring the Singing In The Sun in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the Gatlinburg Gathering in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and other locations), and the Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
On August 25, 2009, Tony underwent a successful kidney transplant, with TaRanda providing the donor kidney. He returned to traveling within a month and though he encountered some minor health difficulties, he continued with the Greenes until additional health issues forced his hospitalization on September 21, 2010.
A service celebrating Tony's life will be held Monday evening, October 4, 2010, at 7:00 P.M., at First Baptist Church Indian Trail. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 4:00 until 7:00 o'clock.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 4:00 until 7:00 o'clock, at the church, prior to the service.
A time to pay respect will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2010, from 8:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M., at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Graveside services and burial will follow Tuesday afternoon, at 1:00 o'clock, at the Westview Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tony Greene Medical Fund, PO Box 3046, Indian Trail, North Carolina, 28079.
Online condolences may be sent to the Greene family at http://www.hamptonfuneralservice.com/.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home, in Indian Trail, North Carolina, is in charge of the arrangements.

   The very last concert i saw Tony sing at was in July.   It was down in Berry, Al on a Sunday afternoon.  I didn't think i would be able to make it, but just as GOD had done so many times before when i got to go see the Greenes, HE opened the door and made a way at the last minute.  I really questioned why i was going that Sunday morning...missing my own church and driving that far by myself.  Little did i realize it would be my last time to see Tony on this side of heaven.  The Greenes did a great job that day of lifting up CHRIST and encouraging us all in the LORD.    I especially loved hearing Tony sing, "I Can't Even Walk Without YOU Holding My Hand," as i had often heard him sing in recent years and never grew tired of it.   Afterwards, Taranda went straight to the bus as she was recovering from recent surgery,  and  i went and spoke with John a few minutes.  I walked over and sat down where Tony was talking with some other folks.  I overheard him say something about having trouble with his kidney and that was the first i knew that he was struggling with his new kidney.   I wish i had stayed longer and taken time tell Tony bye and that i loved him.  I got up and left and didn't even say goodbye...just figuring i'd see him the next time down the road.    I didn't realize i would never get a chance here on earth to say goodbye.  As i was typing earlier this week and telling a friend about that on FB shortly after i found out about Tony's death, the HOLY SPIRIT so moved me by that thought that i immediately got up and went to the phone and called someone very close to me to seek to reconcile some differences between us and tell her i loved her. I didn't want something to happen to either one of us and there be anything between us. We never know when we will see someone for the last time, until we meet on the other shore.
    I remember hearing Tony apologize that Sunday afternoon for the Greenes getting in the church a little late.  He said he was about to walk in when Belle, his little girl had chocolate all over her hands and hugged her Daddy getting it all over his white shirt, so he had to change shirts and that delayed them.  Tony was very prompt and always wanted to be on time...another lesson from his life that i need to work on.  Tony loved his daughters and loved being on the road with them.  They homeschooled Belle as they traveled down the road, and little Josie was learning just as much as her big sister.
    I video taped the Greenes singing  a few songs that last concert.  I believe it's the first time i ever recorded them and i am so glad now the LORD led me to do that, and made the way for me to go to that last concert i saw Tony sing.   I've included one of my favorites Tony sang  that has been so true in my life, "I Can't Even Walk Without YOU Holding My Hand."  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgSNUKv9yQI.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg7huGJ4cTk-Belle singing, "I Am a Promise" with her sweet little sis and Daddy in video.

    Many of you have told me how you are praying for the Greenes and i know that GOD is hearing and answering your prayers for them.  Please continue to remember this dear family in your prayers.  Next Friday night the Greenes were scheduled to sing in Cullman, see attachment.  I don't know if they will be there, Tony's funeral is Monday in Charlotte, NC and the graveside service is Tuesday in Boone, NC. But the Hoppers, Tony's sister Kim sings with, will be as far as i know, and Gold City.  The concert was orginally to benefit  Tony's Kidney fund, and all the proceeds will still go to Tony's Medical Fund.  James Nicholson, a long time friend of the Greenes is putting that concert on in Cullman and i hope you will see him about tickets...it's going to be a wonderful night in the LORD, and the life of Tony Greene will be celebrated that night.
     Tony Greene,  I know you're up there in heaven, and it will be hard for you to miss these concerts...you've been so faithful for 32 years to be there and sing the Praises of your LORD and encourage HIS soldiers weary hearts.  I can  just hear you snorting and laughing and singing praises to your GOD and having a good old time up there with JESUS, your Daddy you loved so much, and all your other loved ones who have gone on before....I'm sure the LORD said to you, "Well done, good and faithful servant," when you arrived in heaven.   We sure will miss you Tony.  Thank you for making us laugh and making us cry.  Thank you for  always pointing our hearts to heaven and to JESUS and encouraging us to "Hold On," in the difficult times, that GOD is faithful.   HE sure is...and HE answered our prayers and healed your body once and for all.  We love you and thank GOD for your life that burned out for JESUS.
      GOD bless you dear ones, and thank you for letting me lean on you this week.  GOD has been faithful and brought back so very many sweet memories of Tony Greene, and the wonderful blessing that he has been in my life.
     I love you all and thank you for letting me share my heart with you.
                                                                                                                                    With all HIS love,
                                                                                                                                          mitzi
