Tents, Chick-Fil-A and "Stand Up, Stand Up for JESUS"

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of CHRIST, for it is the power of GOD to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek." Romans 1:16

"We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of GOD." Eph. 6:12,13

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

I'm sitting outside in our  tent that i set up Friday afternoon in the broiling hot sun and good ole Alabama humidity.  Before i got through setting it up, the first time, it came a thunderstorm.  It's really cozy out here in the dark with the crickets softly chirping, Midnight, our black lab  is whining softly wanting to come inside and Henry keeps attacking the tent, my foot, and Troy, our Maltipoo, who is quietly sitting upon my lap, except for attacks from Henry.  Then he growls loudly.  Henry hurts when he attacks!   The "tent" is really one of those tents with a top and the sides are mesh that you use to put over a picnic table.  I worked and worked to set it up, it kept collapsing when i tried to set the poles up on one side, the other would fall.  I even sanded some of the poles and oiled them cause i couldn't get the ends to fit right.  Later on Johnny was looking at my "tent," and said something is wrong with it.  He said, "I didn't buy a tent to look like a teepee. "

My first attempt

He told me what i had set it up wrong, and I recoiled a little bit at first, but then i realize he was right.  As soon as he left for work, i set about redoing it like he said, found the instructions, and it worked much better.

Tent set up the right way...it always helps to read the instructions...and listen to my  husband!

The poles i had sanded and oiled?  They fit just like they were supposed to when you set the tent up right to start with.  John Mac came in and said, "Mom, why is there a tent in the backyard?"  I laughed and told Johnny and he said he was wondering the same thing.  The truth is i wondered myself why i was so compelled to set the tent up in the midst of a thunderstorm, no less. I did stop as the lightening got closer.  I  didn't want to get struck by lightening, but i sure did want to get that tent set up.

Later on, i got out our old camping lights,  the little kitty cat lights that you hang outside your camper awning.  I plugged them in to see if they still worked and they did!  All but one burns, and i just need to get a new bulb for it.   It's really cozy out here with the lights softly glowing through the kitty cats outside, and inside, me and Troy are sitting in my Cabela's lounge chair.  I've got a grate set up nearby, so when i get ready to make a fire i can cook over an open fire.

Love the Kitty Cat lights softly glowing in the night...

Now i remember why i set up the tent....HB went camping Thursday with a girlfriend from school.  She went and bought a little two man tent, and an 8 dollar sleeping bag, some hotdogs,  and  stuff for s'mores.  Now that's odd, some geese just went honking by at this late hour, that i write.  She got some oatmeal and sausage  for breakfast, and those girls camped out, and then rented canoes the next morning and went canoeing...i was so proud of her!

That's my girl!

She inspired me to get out my camping stuff...and just go camping in my back yard!  I don't do so well at regular campgrounds with the smoke and mosquito spray they often use.   I also got out the big cot Johnny bought me several years ago when we stayed in a cabin in Gatlinburg so i could sleep outside on the porch.  My son and his fiance  tried to help me finish putting it together Friday night.  My son was pushing and pulling with all his might, his gal was pulling and I was pushing and Johnny was supervising.  We never got it to pop in place.  The legs got bent in this process a bit but if it doesn't collapse on me, and the chemicals that are still outgassing from it don't kill me, i will enjoy laying on that cot on our deck and looking up at the stars.  Our beach trip spoiled me sleeping out on the deck....i loved, loved, loved being able to look up and see the stars, and hear the ocean, and the birds.  I don't have the ocean here, but we do have the stars, the moon, crickets, and even geese at night honking!
So on with the rest of the email that i begun Friday night...

As i am writing this (Friday night) my son and his fiance are packing up his room, getting another load of stuff for him to take to school.  He starts med school this Monday at UAB and i sure would appreciate your prayers for him during this transition.  He is looking forward to it and i ask you to pray that GOD's favor will rest upon him and HE will clearly show John Mac the path HE has for him to serve HIM.
Today i didn't really plan to write but when i got up this morning and read an email from "The Daily Jot," entitled "The War on Your CHRISTian Values," my head just couldn't quit thinking about the war that is indeed going on all around us and is getting more and more vicious it seems against CHRISTians.
I talked with Dana's Daddy this afternoon, my friend whose family has been attacked so viciously after Dana's husband spanked her son in the backyard for being disrespectful.    Terry told me to share this information with whoever because people need to know what is taking place in our country.  Terry told me that his eyes had sure been opened to what we are up against in this country with the family.  He said before it had affected him, he wasn't really concerned about it,  but now he sees the incredible assault being unleased on the CHRISTian family.  A friend of Dana's,  who is the Director of a department i'm not going to name, was threatened in his job because he was taking up for Dana and her family.  He works with troubled families, and he told Terry that more and more children are being taken away from their parents for no reason, and he was probably going to resign his position within the year because he does not want to be apart of that.

We can see this week, the vicious attack against Chik Fil A because the owner's son, stood up for the Biblical role of the family...what a firestorm this has brought about.  What a heartbreak in our country of America.  As i was going back over some of the things i've read today, my heart grows heavier and heavier for our country.

The war on your Christian values

I have been writing The Daily Jot for 10 1/2 years. It has become increasingly apparent over this decade that those of us who call ourselves Christians are at war. There are theaters of this war being acted out at various levels. In America, it is cultural and moral. In Islamic countries, it is deadly physical. In China, for example, it is both. This past week, I had a pastor friend from Africa write me that his house and church were bulldozed without warning, saying the buildings were on some sort of land reserve. He said there is no basis to the charges, but meantime he is homeless until the government works it out.

Many Christians do not understand the gravity of the situation. We do not choose to be at war. We do not seek this attack on our beliefs. The attacks are brought to us. I am sure you can think of many examples. It is almost overwhelming. Indeed, these are signs of the times in which we are living. We do not seek the battle, but we are attacked.

Join the Chick-fil-A Buycott
Last year we asked you to stand alongside Chick-fil-A as they faced off with radical homosexuals who were upset over the restaurant donating food to a traditional marriage seminar. Now, its not only homosexual activists but militant politicians who are joining the smear campaign against the company.
Chicago mayor, and former White House Chief of Staff to President Obama, Rahm Emanuel, has pledged to block Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant within the city. Boston’s mayor also joined the fight against Chick-fil-A.
These militant politicians are upset over Chick-fil-A’s President, Dan Cathy’s, comments in support of traditional marriage.
But can these politicians really block a company just because of their religious viewpoint? Seems to be another case of religious discrimination and anti-Christian bigotry.
Chick-fil-A is well-known for producing jobs and tax revenue, and for being a good tenant wherever they are located. Christians throughout the nation are joining in a “buy-cott.”
TAKE ACTION:
Wednesday, August 1st, Christians should go to their nearest Chick-fil-A and give them support for standing up for their values.

--
It’s been stunning to see the Left’s long knives come out for the leaders of the Chick-Fil-A corporation.  Why? Because the company’s president Dan Cathy, a devout born again follower of Jesus Christ, has said that while he and his company respect and honor people of all races, creeds, religions and sexual orientations, he strongly believes intraditional marriage between one man and one woman and is “guilty as charged” when it comes to defending a Biblical approach to family. Cathy also warned that America could trigger the judgment of God against us if we choose to continue defying the Bible’s teachings on marriage. “I think we’re inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better than You what constitutes a marriage,” Cathy said in remarks reported by ABC News.
I completely agree. As I wrote about in Implosion, America is flirting with disaster if we continue to ignore the Bible and turn our backs on the teachings of the Lord God Almighty.
But Cathy’s strong stance on behalf of a Biblical approach to marriage is being taken by the Left as “anti-gay” and it has sparked a firestorm from coast to coast.
Others, however, are strongly defending Chick-Fil-A and are grateful for Cathy’s defense of the Biblical standard for marriage. Among them:
  • Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee started a Facebook page calling for a “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day” on August 1st. “I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld. The Cathy family, led by Chick Fil-A founder Truett Cathy, are a wonderful Christian family who are committed to operating the company with Biblical principles and whose story is the true American success story.  Starting at age 46 Truett Cathy built Chick Fil-A into a $4 billion a year enterprise with over 1600 stores. At 91, he is still active in the company, but his son Dan runs it day to day as CEO.It’s a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.”
  • Rick Santorum quickly joined Huckabee in defense of traditional marriage and Chick-Fil-A.
  • Billy Graham has issued a statement defending traditional marriage and Chick-Fil-A. “I want to express my support for my good friends Truett Cathy and his son Dan Cathy, and for their strong stand for the Christian faith,” Graham said. “I’ve known their family for many years and have watched them grow Chick-fil-A into one of the best businesses in America while never compromising their values. Chick-fil-A serves each of its customers with excellence, and treats everyone like a neighbor. It’s easy to see why Chick-fil-A has become so popular across America. Each generation faces different issues and challenges, but our standard must always be measured by God’s word. I appreciate the Cathy family’s public support for God’s definition of marriage.”
  • Franklin Graham also issued a statement defending traditional marriage and Chick-Fil-A.
  • Jim Daly of Focus on the Family wrote an op-ed defending traditional marriage and Chick-Fil-A, as well.
The first thing I did when I heard of this controversy was ask my wife to pick up some Chick-Fil-A for dinner for our family. I look forward to dining there again on August 1st. One of our friends wrote, “Did you ever think a chicken sandwich could divide a nation?” Clever, but of course there is a much bigger issue here than one company or the views of one executive. The American Left has declared war against the traditional family, against the Bible, and against all who dare say that they follow Biblical principles. Maybe this controversy will wake up the sleeping Church in America and call millions believers to stand up for the truth. Maybe this firestorm will inspire millions of Christians to truly preach the Gospel, teach the Word of God, and do so with love, compassion, courage and without shame. Maybe seeing the vitriol of the Left will cause millions of Christians to begin praying and fasting for a Third Great Awakening for this beloved country of ours. I sure hope so, because without such a sweeping spiritual revival I believe this country is going to implode. And time is running short.

From John McTernan's website:

Danger: The Uniting of the Hard Left Fascists and the Muslims. Danger

Proverbs 11:21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

Commentary

I have been warning of the coming Hard Left assault against Christians. It has accelerated in the last few months and especially since Obama endorsed sodomite marriage. It appears when he promoted this Ordinance of the Amorites (See below) that something happened in the heavens regarding America. Evil is now rapidly gaining power all around us. The LORD has withdrawn his hand of protection for America and violence is now going to consume the country.
The Hard Left Fascists/reprobates now feel they own America and sodomy is king. I warned and warned that when the Hard Left was in power they would do this. Boston, San Francisco, LA and many other cities are just like Chicago.
Please trust me on this and do not doubt what I am about to say. The Hard Left hates us just as much as the Nazis hated the Jews. It is the exact hatred. They have been restrained in America, but now because the church failed to intercede before the LORD, the reprobates are in power. THEY WILL MOVE TO KILL US JUST AS THE NAZIS DID TO THE JEWS. There is no doubt in my mind of this.
I went to college with the Hard Left. I worked as a federal agent in a Hard Left environment. At the abortion centers, I engaged many of the Hard Left reprobates. I follow them on this blog. I know how they think, and many, many of them have a murdering spirit. The restraint is now off them and what happened in Chicago is an example of what is going to happen across America wherever they are in power.
The Left now has the same spirit of the French Revolution which will bring anarchy and incredible bloodshed. It is upon us and could break out at any time. There is no time left for America as the Day of judgment has arrived.
The reprobates are now after Christian businesses which support real marriage and will not support the homosexual agenda. The Nazis went after the Jewish businesses before they moved to kill the Jews.
Emanuel goes after Chick-fil-A for boss’ anti-gay views 07/26/12 All Christians are now in grave danger in Chicago. The City of Chicago is trying to block a legitimate Christian company from opening a business because it is pro marriage and not supporting sodomy! The Hard Left monster is now mature and ready to devour all that is in its way. This is a direct shot across the bow for all of us.

I am so inspired by Dana and her family unashamedly clinging to GOD throughout this trial and trusting HIM for HIS plans and purposes. Terry said today they forgive those who have lied against them and they want those involved to come to know the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Please pray that all the Grammer's will walk in the LORD's grace to forgive those who have come against them and that no root of bitterness would grow up in their hearts as a result of all of this. Pray for their strength to endure this battle for their family.

Yesterday i read a devotion from Dr. Charles Stanley,  that really reminded me that "GOD Uses the Wicked," and HE has a plan and purpose through all of this.  Pray this for Dana and her family, that they will continue to remember that GOD is working out HIS plan and purpose through all of these circumstances and not to become discouraged.
                                                                                                                             July 26, 2012

God Uses the Wicked

Read | Genesis 37-39
When we don't understand what God is doing or why, His ways can seem perplexing. The times when ungodly people seem to triumph over the righteous make us scratch our heads and wonder why the Lord doesn't intervene. But the truth is, He oftenuses the wicked to accomplish His purpose.
Joseph faced one hard-hearted individual after another during his years in exile. His brothers shipped him off to Egypt. His boss's wife accused him of an unspeakable crime. And even those he helped, like Pharaoh's cupbearer, forgot about him (Gen. 40:23). The actions (or seeming inactions) of Godmake little sense at this point.
But once the story of Joseph's life was written in full, it was clear that everyone who harmed or neglected the young man contributed to God's plan. The Lord used numerous people across several years to bring a humbled young Hebrew unexpectedly to power at the right moment to spare his family--who were the Messiah's ancestors--from the effects of famine.
In our circumstances, we can see God's actions only from the limited vantage point of our humanness. We experience the events He has allowed or caused but can't discern what He is thinking. Often the Lord's goals and purposes are hidden from us until His plans come to fruition.
God is sovereign over all the earth. We may wonder at the strange or even terrifying turns our lives take, but we can be certain that He is in control and at work. The wicked may triumph for a season, but the final, eternal victory belongs to Christ and His righteous followers.

Thank you so much for your prayers and concern for my friends....i can't tell you how much i appreciate you lifting them up before our FATHER in heaven.  "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16

Below are earnest pleas from Dana and her Daddy to remember their family in our prayers:

Please pray for Zach, me,and my family. I'm hurting more than I ever imagined. Each day that passes I get weaker. I can't just go get my baby back as he asks me. I've always been there for him and helped him in anyway he needed. God is there with him to comfort him. And I solely rely on him too. The weaker I feel the stronger i am with God. I love my sweet boys.

Terry Grammer, Dana's Daddy
Continue to pray for Zach that he keeps the truth dear to his heart regardless of what is occurring. That he continually be blessed by GOD, that GOD leads him in everything that he says and does. GOD has a plan, we do not know what it is, but I know my GOD is a just, loving and merciful GOD.
Dana Grammer Sanchez
I am not sure Gods plan here but I have to remember when the truth prevails its going to be for Gods glory not mine. I love my family and will always do what's right for them. I only am ok because of Gods promises. I miss my Zach but this storm will calm. Patience is a virtue and hope is a must

Dana hugging Zach goodbye as he was removed from them and sent to live three thousand miles away .
Her sweet boys....

I wrote most of this Friday evening, and wasn't sure why i wasn't able to finish it.  Today after our pastor's sermon out of Acts 7, and the risk that Stephen took to share the TRUTH with those religious leaders, i felt compelled to finish up this email and send it to you.  Pastor Edward's sermon was about "Risks and Rewards," and he used this passage to share with us what Peter, Joseph, Moses, Abraham, and Stephen went through to serve GOD.  He told us that Stephen was up against the same religious leaders that had JESUS crucified and yet, he boldly proclaimed the TRUTH with them instead of cowering down.  The risk Stephen took led to him being stoned and ushered immediately into the presence of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

59
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep." Acts 7:59-60

Dana has had to take the risk of standing up for her husband and CHRISTian beliefs, and for now, it has cost her from being with her son.  Our pastor challenged us with what risk are we taking for JESUS CHRIST?  GOD really spoke to me about this because this week i have been dealing with a situation that i know sometime in the future  i will need to share boldly that JESUS CHRIST is the only WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE.  I felt like i  cowered down  and collapsed  this week, like the tent i was trying to set up  when i had the opportunity to stand up for JESUS.  The sermon was convicting and GOD's WORD, instilled courage in me to "Stand Up, Stand Up for JESUS." Our pastor closed his sermon by the poem "If" from Rudyard Kipling.  I cut this poem out and had it on my bulletin board in my room  all during my teenage years.

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;

If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same:.

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings,

And never breathe a word about your loss:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much:

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!
Rudyard Kipling

Only GOD's Word and HIS HOLY SPIRIT living inside of us can give us the power to live up to these words by Rudyard Kipling.  Living in our strength, we will collapse when the stormy winds blow upon our lives. Abiding in CHRIST, we can stand up for JESUS in the hard places and exhibit HIS character and grace.

I was talking with a friend on the phone last night and she said that everyone she knew was going through some kind of battle.  CHRISTian brothers and sisters, wake up!  We are in the midst of spiritual warfare on all fronts.  I have written a good bit about my friend Dana because after talking with her Daddy twice this week, i am more aware than ever of the intense spiritual warfare they are involved in for their family.   This is just one case.  We  have to look no further than our local Chik Fil A restaurant and what a firestorm it caused when the President of the company stood up for the Biblical view of marriage.

Our families are being killed when they go to watch a movie....America is bleeding from within, our Foundation on GOD's WORD is being eroded by false teaching in the church, the warfare is rampant, and we CHRISTians are being faced with more and more persection for our faith.  Are we going to cave in and just go along, or are we willing to take risk and stand for JESUS when the heat turns up.  My friend Dana and her husband and family are standing for JESUS.  Chik-Fil-A is standing for JESUS.  Please pray for them, and please pray for me to be bold and courageous in the places GOD has called me to "Stand Up for JESUS."

"For YOU equipped me with strength for the battle." Psalm 18:39

I am just reminded of the old hymn we used to sing when i was growing up in the Methodist Church, "Stand Up, Stand Up for JESUS, ye soldiers of the cross, Lift high HIS royal banner it must  not suffer loss, from victory, unto victory, HIS army shall shall HE lead, til every foe is vanquished, and CHRIST is LORD indeed.  Stand up, stand up for JESUS, stand in HIS strength alone.  The arm of flesh will fail you, you dare not trust your own.  Put on the gospel armor each piece put on with prayer, where duty calls or danger, be never wanting there.  Stand up, stand up for JESUS, the strife will not be long, this day the noise of battle, the next the victors song, To him that overcometh, a crown of life shall be He with the King of Glory shall reign eternally.

"Stand Up, Stand Up for JESUS"  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r11Gmdq__-8

What risks am i taking, what risks are you taking for JESUS CHRIST? JESUS is not a way, HE is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man cometh to the FATHER but by me." John 14:6 What are we willing to risk to "Stand Up, Stand Up, for JESUS?" Stephen gave up his life to tell the Truth, Dana has had to give up her son because she stood by her husband and their CHRISTian beliefs to spank their children.  What am i willing to risk for JESUS.  HE layed down HIS life so that we might be forgiven of all our sins, and HE longs to have a personal and intimate relationship with each and every one of us.  HIS heart is so lonely and breaking for those who have not confessed HIM as LORD and SAVIOR and repented from their sins. " GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only SON that whosoever believes in HIM shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16.  If you have not trusted in JESUS CHRIST as your LORD and SAVIOR you can do that right now, even as you read this, by confessing your sins to HIM, and inviting HIM to come into your life.  Then go, and talk to a Bible believing pastor, or growing believer in JESUS CHRIST  and surround yourself with believers in a Bible believing church, and grow in your relationship with JESUS CHRIST.  Feed on the Ancient Words of the BIBLE that are our very life and teach us how to walk in this world. Our choir sang this beautiful song this morning about the life and power and wisdom of those "Ancient Words." Please take time to watch this   powerful video with the "Ancient Words," and  Michael W. Smith singing it:

Holy words long preserved
for our walk in this world,
They resound with God's own heart.
Oh let the ancient words impart

Words of Life, words of Hope
Give us strength, help us cope
In this world, where e'er we roam
Ancient words will guide us Home.

CHORUS:
Ancient words ever true
Changing me and changing you,
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart

Holy words of our Faith
Handed down to this age
Came to us through sacrifice
Oh heed the faithful words of Christ.

GOD did have a purpose for me setting up this tent in the midst of a thunderstorm.  When i was setting it up wrong, it kept collapsing and wouldn't stand because i didn't follow the instructions.   If i had read the instructions, which i didn't find until later, I would have been able to set it up in a whole lot less time, and it would have stood, and not been wobbly.

I am like that tent, when i don't read and meditate on  GOD's WORD's, the "Ancient Words," that are  the instructions for this life, i collapse, and don't stand under the storms of life.  When I read GOD's WORD,  "the Ancient WORDS,"  give me life, they give me strength, they give me courage to face all the attacks that satan and the world can throw at me.      GOD's HOLY SPIRIT causes me to stand, instead of collapsing at the first sign of trial or  persecution.  GOD's WORD gives me wisdom, life, peace, faith, and so much more.  They cause me to "Stand Up, Stand Up for JESUS," in the hard places.

Our nation is struggling and wobbling because we have left the "Ancient Words," of JESUS and our foundations are shaking.  Our holy GOD, WHO loves us so much is trying to get our attention.  Unless we return to GOD, and live by the "Ancient Words," we are going to collapse as a nation.  The way of life as we know it now, that was established by our Founding Father's  basing our nation's laws on GOD's WORD, is going to collapse.  It can't be maintained by people who aren't ruled by GOD's WORD and HIS Spirit.

GOD used HB's camping adventure to inspired me to set up the tent in my own backyard.   In the process, HE has taught me  a lesson about  the importance of reading and studying HIS "Ancient WORD," for the instructions for life so that I can stand against all the fiery flames of the evil one.  Reading from the book of Nehemiah this morning reminded me that we suffer grave consequences, personally and as a nation, we when forsake GOD's "Ancient WORDs."   Dana's family is inspiring me to "Stand Up for JESUS," when it's very, very difficult, as well as Mr. Cathey with Chick-Fil-A.   What about you and me?  What are our lives inspiring others to do...to "Stand Up, Stand Up for JESUS," or to blend in with the humanism and secularism of our culture?  Oh, GOD may you use my life , the lives of my family and friends, and YOUR  BRIDE, the CHURCH to inspire others to stand up for JESUS, unashamedly and boldly.

I had the privilege of singing with our choir at a Charles Billingsley concert this past Thursday night at Clements Baptist Church.  There were over a 100 members in the joint choir made up of churches from Highland Baptist in Florence, Center Star, Clements Baptist, Lindsay Lane, and our church, FBC.  One of the songs we sang with him was "GOD So Loved the WORLD," and he made it clear that GOD loves EVERYONE and we are too do the same.  That's are hard thing when you are walking in the shoes of my friend Dana right now... please pray GOD will help them to overcome this evil with HIS love.  It's a powerful song and I hope you will take the time to listen to it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hGH6FEALw4

Our son left for Birmingham yesterday to start med school and i had such a lump in my throat all i can manage to squeeze out was a goodbye and I love you son.

This is another season of transition in all of our lives, and i ask you to pray for my son, as he begins this journey that GOD called him to before he was created to fulfill the plans and purposes that GOD has for his life.  Pray for all of us to have our priorities right, and "Stand Up, Stand Up for JESUS."  Hannah Beth is finishing up her summer semester and it's been a tough one for her...GOD has grown her through some trials she's experienced.  She has a short break, and has to stay down there a week of her break to train for her new job at the coffee shop that is just opening up there on campus.  This job will be flexible and allow her to make some extra spending money, and study when she's not serving up coffee.  It's difficult to do anything extra when you are in nursing school, so i'm excited for her and the students and faculty she will be able to be meet on her new job.

Sitting out in the tent....our peace is  disturbed only by the threat of Henry, our cat, waiting to pounce at any minute.  I am reminded that Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, and he is trying to devour our country by destroying the family.   May we all seek the LORD JESUS with all of our hearts and abide in HIM, and stand up, stand up for JESUS, and for our brothers and sisters who are going through the fire, like Dana and Anthony, and Chik-Fil-A.  Go eat with Chick-Fil-A Wednesday to show your support...and anytime before or after that!   They are standing....let us love them by praying for them and encouraging them.
I'd better go, the natives are getting restless, and this tent is too small for that!

                                                                                          With all HIS love,

"When GOD Has Another Plan"

"The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; He will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing." Isaiah 51:3

Dana and Zach after he was taken away Friday

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

First i want to up date you on my friend Dana and her son Zach that i have asked you to pray for this past Friday.  The state has taken Zach away from Dana and her husband at this time.  It was devastating to hear the news that Dana's sister posted on Friday afternoon on Bring Zach Home:

Zach has been taken from Dana.
It is evident that was the plan all along and nothing we could have done would have stopped it.
Zach cried and cried into Dad's lap and we whispered prayers into his ear as he left.

Corruption and rule the day.

If there is a positive it is that he is out of foster care. We will pray that God protects Zach until we can get him back. And we will.

Please pray for Dana.

The picture tells it all, and I ask you to continue to pray for my friend Dana and her family during this very difficult time.   Dana grew up on the street behind us, in our same church, and she used to come over when the kids were little and play with John Mac and Hannah Beth.  In fact, Dana was about the same age as Zach, when she would come over and be such a big help to me....she was one of GOD's angels to help me.  I watched Dana grow up, along with her sisters, both of them Crimsonettes at the U of Alabama.  I'm sure Dana could have been if she wanted.  Dana was a great softball pitcher and she later became a majorette like her sisters at our local high school  Her Dad used to diligently work with her in the backyard pitching, as Zach's Dad was doing to get ready for family vacation with their family here in Alabama.  Zach was being disrespectful to his Daddy while they were pitching, and his Daddy was spanking him for that.  The media blew it all out of proportion and said that he was being spanked for dropping the ball and that is not true.
I don't know where they took Zach because they haven't shared that information.  Getting their son back is one major trial.  Her husband who was caught on camera spanking their son in the backyard, lost his job as an elected official,  had to post a $100,000 dollars bail, and is facing a jury trial for the charges of child abuse brought against him.  Talk about life turning upside down in a hurry.  In Dana's sorrow for her son, she has not even mentioned the other trials they are facing.  Her Mother's heart longs for her son to be back in her loving arms.  Please pray diligently for her.  She shared on FB that all of this is making her physically sick, yet her hope in GOD, and she is trying to trust HIM that HE is sovereign in these affairs, and clings to the hope that GOD will restore her son to her.
There are several cases in the Bible the LORD keeps bringing to my heart of being unjustly treated and the latest i read this morning was that of the apostle Paul in the book of Acts.  He was struck by a high priest, and he said something disrespectful to the high priest.  When he realized who he was, he apologized, and he submitted to the governing authorities.  Time after time, GOD delivered Paul from impossible circumstances such as when he and Silas were in jail singing and praising GOD. GOD sent an earthquake to deliver them and Paul didn't run.  Instead he told the jailer not to be afraid and the jailer came to know CHRIST as his LORD and SAVIOR, along with his family.  GOD used Paul right where he was, in the midst of the life threatening circumstances he was in, to the lead the jailer to a saving relationship with CHRIST JESUS. See Acts 16:16-40 for the full story.
The other person that keeps coming to my mind over and over was Joseph in the Old Testament.  He was certainly treated unjustly by his brothers when they sold him into slavery, Potiphar's wife  falsely accused him of wanting to have sex with her, and Joseph was thus thrown into prison for many years.  Of course we know what happened, one day GOD released Joseph from prison by way of Pharaoh having a troublesome dream, and the forgotten Joseph (not forgotten by GOD) was suddenly called up from his prison cell to Pharoah's throne room.  His time had come to be released from captivity after many long years of prison and being separated from his family  to fulfill the role of being second in command over all of Egypt and delivering the people from the famine that was coming.
The greatest example of someone treated unjustly is that of our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.  The "mock" trial that He was thrust before in the middle of the night was as unjust as any trial could be for our perfect spotless SAVIOR, yet HIS sacrifice at the hands of this angry mob, who beat him to a pulp and crucified him on a wood tree was all a part of GOD's perfect plan for our redemption and salvation.

Oftentimes we forget in the midst of the crucible that GOD is sovereign, HE is in control, working out HIS plan of salvation, redemption and deliverance for our lives.  Just now i am reminded of Queen Esther, and Ruth, and the prostitute who hid the Jewish spies, and in turn, Rahab's life was spared and she is in the lineage of JESUS, along with Ruth.  GOD is still in the delivering and saving business and HE has not forgot my precious friend Dana, her husband, nor her boys.  HE has asked all of us to trust HIS heart where we can't trace HIS hand.   HE is working out HIS plan through these circumstances that HE is "engineering" as Oswald Chambers shares, as painful as they may be.

"All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness." Hebrews 12:11

When i read the words that Dana's sister shared that Zach had been taken away from Dana, i was stunned like everyone else.  I had heard this was a very real possibility, but was praying the LORD would deliver Zach back to her.  Later on, Friday afternoon, I wrote Dana the words below in response to hers:

I love my sweet boys. The only thing I'm guilty of is loving my sweet babies and doing what's right before God..

Dear Precious Dana, the LORD JESUS knows your loving heart to pour out your life for your boys. HE is not asleep, nor slumbers, but is quietly caring out HIS plan behind the scenes. He loves you and could have moved the authorities to return Zach back to your loving arms today but for some reason HE didn't. We offer to HIM the sacrifice of praise for HIS love, HIS ways that are higher than ours, and HIS grace that is more than sufficient to meet Zach's needs and all of yours. We thank HIM for the victory that is ours in CHRIST JESUS and that HE always leads us in triumph! It wasn't the outcome we had hoped and prayed for but God's will will be done. LORD help Dana to trust in you with all of her heart and not lean on her own understanding...thank you, LORD JESUS YOU are all powerful, all knowing, and you truly work all things together for good to those who love YOU including these circumstances. I love you sweet Dana....

GOD does have a plan, a plan for good and not for evil and HE asks us to trust HIM and obey in times of our heart's deepest distress.   The LORD brought to my mind the Greene's song, "When GOD Has Another Plan," as i was thinking about Dana.  Many of you recall my friend Tony Greene who died almost three years ago after a long fight with kidney disease.  Tony, Taranda's wife, donated her kidney for Tony, and we all thought Tony was going to be okay.  He began to have some complications several months down the road, and died suddenly a little over a year after transplant.  We were all shocked and stunned.  Tony and Taranda were singing this song, "When GOD Has Another Plan," and it became the number 1 southern gospel song the month Tony went to be with JESUS.  Taranda, Tony's wife, sings this beautiful song and reminds us through the story of Joseph that GOD indeed often has another plan for our lives than the one we envision.   HE asks us to trust HIM as HIS plan unfolds in our lives and the lives of those around us.  Watch and listen to Taranda sing this beautiful and most encouraging song, "When GOD Has Another Plan" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBEwYQFjD-I.

Thank you so much for praying for my friend Dana and her dear family and please continue.  I don't know what the next step is as far as trying to get Zach back but the biggest thing we can do is to be faithful to pray for our brothers and sisters in CHRIST JESUS.  GOD is strengthening her and her family, to go through this wearisome desert. HE will give them the grace they need for each minute, every hour that drags by, and each day, and HE will somehow turn their weeping into joy.
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joycometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5

Our family had the wonderful blessing of going on our longest ever vacation, six days, this past week, and GOD was so ever faithful to supply all of our needs in CHRIST JESUS. Whenever you travel with me, there are specific needs for my environment to be one that i can stay in...and the house we stayed in in Gulf Shores was really good for me.  I had my own loft upstairs, and slept out under the stars for most of the vacation to the sound of the ocean waves....what a wonderful place to reflect on the Majesty and the Glory of our Creator.

My view from my "bedroom" each morning

My bedroom... such a wonderful window to GOD's creation!

Where we stayed was part of a Bird Sanctuary and Wildlife Refuge...there were tons of great blue herons, sea gulls, pelicans, and i'm not sure what all other kinds of birds there were flying around.  There were  some the tamest foxes i've ever seen living in the neighbor's garage.  One night we came back to the house, and two foxes meandered across the road.  After they left, the neighbor's two cats  came out of the bushes.  The neighbor later told me that her cats and the foxes get along!

Great Blue Heron on the Beach

It was such a special blessing to all be together as a family before our son starts medical school in just a few days.

I am asking you to please pray for him as he transitions to this next season of life the LORD has for him.  He and his fiance have been busy moving his things into his apartment in Birmingham, along with my husband, and slowly but surely his room is emptying out here.  He is sleeping in Hannah Beth's bed now, while she is away at college.  Hannah Beth drove over from nearby Mobile and was able to spend all but one night with us on vacation as she had class on Saturday.  When she returned, she brought two friends with her, and we had a great time with them, going out to eat at the Hang Out, going out for yogurt,  riding go courts while us old folks, me and Johnny went back to the house (that's the night we saw the foxes).  The next day, we had a big breakfast, devotion, and went to hang out at the beach.  It was fun laying out together, and playing in the ocean.
The waves about beat me to death though...

That afternoon we went shopping at the outlet mall at Foley and then ate together at Lambert's before Hannah Beth's two friends had to return to Mobile.  It was amazing how the male waiters handing out food at Lambert's hoovered over our table during our meal:).

Eating at Lambert's

The next morning my son and I went to a state park where we walked down the beach together.  It was nothing around except a deserted boat, and campsite, sand dunes, sand, and the ocean.
Deserted boat on the beach

It was a special time to get to be with my son who  went on an eight mile walk the first day and got sunburned and had to stay in for two days.  Believe me, he lathered on the sunscreen next time we went out....he learned a painful lesson.

The amazing thing about this trip is once again the LORD came through so strong for me in my weakness.  I continue to struggle with low thyroid and haven't been able to take anything regularly for it.  The LORD put it in my mind to try a little iodine, and Thyrotrophin that my doctor has recommended in the past.  JESUS enabled me to take it, and be able to be on more of an even keel for our family vacation. I was also struggling with back issues to the point i was afraid to go on vacation.  The LORD also helped me with that and i was able to do so many things with my family and serve them cooking and washing and being Mom.  I am so grateful to HIM for HIS grace and  tender mercies.  JESUS never fails...though HE often makes us wait until the eleventh hour.  Once again, HIS grace was sufficient and HIS power made perfect in my weakness.  When the kids were little, my friend Dana, who was her son's age now, went with us on "vacation" to nearby Joe Wheeler State Park to help me with the kids. I was too sick to go very far.  I am thankful the LORD has strengthened me to go many places since that time with my family  and HIS grace has been sufficient in my weakness through the years. Some trips have been easier than others, but through it all, GOD has strengthened me and helped me every step of the journey.

I love you all and thank you for your continued prayers for my friend Dana and her family, and for our family.  Added today:  After talking with Terry last night, I can't fathom the depth of the pain Dana is going through with her family being seemingly torn apart.  They love one another so much...their family was all on vacation in Alabama when Zach had to go back to California and was taken away from them and put in foster care. What a sweet, sweet reunion it is going to be when GOD delivers them and brings them all back together. Please, please pray for them and pray they will get to enjoy many, many more special times together as a family.

Hannah Beth will be beginning her senior year in a few weeks in nursing school and she will be beginning a new job there on campus at the coffee shop.  Hopefully, she will be able to study when she is not making coffee.  She loves to go to Starbucks and study so this sounds perfect for her.  As i shared, John Mac starts med school at UAB on July 30 and gets married on Dec. 27.  Lots of changes for this young man...and our family.  Please pray for him as GOD shapes and molds him to accomplish HIS plans through John Mac's life.  Please pray for Johnny and i as we continue to deal with our health issues.  I sure would like to be rid of them, but realize that through these trials, GOD continues to teach me HIS great faithfulness in my weakness, and lessons that are helpful to me are GOD's way of bringing help to others who are struggling along the same road as i am.  LORD help me be patient with this process, and use me in this place to bring glory and honor to YOU. As you are praying, please remember to pray for the families affected by the shooting in Colorado.  I read on Joel Rosenburg's blog there were 33 members of the same church there that night.   He is encouraging the pastors of America to fast and pray on Wednesday night for our country.... http://flashtrafficblog.wordpress.com/.  Please feel free to forward his blog to your pastor and ask your congregation to join with others in praying for our country.
Thank you all for sharing your prayer request with me...i count it an honor and a privilege to pray for you and your loved ones.  JESUS loves you so much, and I do too.

                                                                                               With all HIS love,
                                                                                                  mitzi

"Amazing Wonders"

Frankie our "crossing guard" with June Grantham

"AH LORD GOD! Behold , thou hast made the heaven and the earth by THY great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for THEE!" Jeremiah 32:17

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

This week, we had Vacation Bible School at our church and it was an amazing week for me.  It wasn't amazing because i felt so wonderful, i  didn't, or did a great job nursing, i didn't, but it was amazing just the way the LORD brought it all together and used  common folks like me filled with HIS power to do extra ordinary work for HIM.  There was nothing "out of the ordinary," except for the fact that GOD works through the common, the weak, and the crippled, and  HIS grace is sufficient and HIS power is made perfect in our weakness, and "Little is much, when GOD is in it!"

27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not —to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.I Cor. 1:27-29

A few weeks ago in church, they shared at the end of the service that they needed help with VBS and one of the needs they listed was a nurse for VBS.  I really felt tugged to volunteer for that even though we have the school nurse for the city schools in our church, an emergency room nurse in our church, and at least two other nurses who are currently working at Dr.'s offices.  I am by far the least qualified to be the nurse, but it seems that's who GOD delights in using, the weakest, so HE gets the glory.    When i asked Br. David if anyone had volunteered yet, he said no, so i told him i would like to and he seemed happy about that....i told him there was one little stipulation and that was i needed to be outside most of the time.  He said that would be okay, i could set up my little station outside and he suggested i do it beside "Frankie" so i could watch "Frankie," while i was being the nurse.  I said sure...that would be fine.
"Frankie," is a man in our church who probably has cerebral palsy.  I'm not sure, i've never heard his official diagnosis, i just know "Frankie," has always been a part of First Baptist Church as long as we've been going there, off and on for almost 30 years.  "Frankie" has always sat up front, and he told me this week, it's because his granddaddy told him to when he first started going to church a long time ago.  "Frankie," is around 73, and he is confined to a wheelchair.  In his younger days, he walked with a limp, wore overalls, rode his three wheeled bicycle around town, and ALWAYS helped the children cross the street at Vacation Bible School, by holding up a wooden, red "STOP" sign while they crossed the street safely.  Though "Frankie," is no longer able to do that, the kind men in our church continue to pick him up at the nursing home now, and bring "Frankie," so he can watch the children, eat snacks, and be a part of Vacation Bible School, still standing post at the crosswalk like he has for the past umpteen years, though he has to sit now.

Monday morning when i got to VBS,  there was "Frankie," sitting by himself across the street.  I began setting up my card table, and little nurse's table by him in the shade.   It wasn't long before  Audry and Denise, a mother and daughter joined me there with Frankie.  Audry and Denise ride the church bus  and they have some challenges too.  We were a good fit for one another...we all had challenges and were not able to keep up with everyone else,  like Josh in "The Crippled Lamb," but GOD had us in just the right place to serve him and bring glory to HIM.

I was still setting up my table Monday and about to put up my tattered poster i had made for Backyard Bible Club,  that says,"First Aid JESUS SAVES on it." I was apologizing for how it looked and was planning to make another one but hadn't had been able to yet, when Denise said the split in it reminded her of the veil that was torn in two at the temple when JESUS died on the Cross. When she said that i thought no way am i making another sign...this one has meaning.  That was the first of many TRUTH's i was amazed that came out of Denise's mouth this week. As we sat there and talked, Denise who is 23, told me that she sings, "You are My Sunshine" to her Mom every night when she goes to bed and tucks her in and kisses her on the cheek.  I asked Denise to sing it for me, and she did, just like she did at night, singing it to her Mom, and then kissed her on the cheek.  It was the sweetest thing, and melted my heart.

Sweet Denise and her Mother, Audry

There were several moments like that during the week when Denise would just be there to minister to her Mom's needs.  All of the sudden it was as if Denise would realize her Mom was sad or not feeling well, and she would go to her and hug her, and pat her, and love her.   You know they may be challenged in some areas, but in other areas, the ones that really count, they are light years ahead of most of us...
As the morning went on, Audry and Denise volunteered to help the kids cross the street, and did a great job.  We got pretty warm so we decided to move across the street in the doorway of the church  where it was much cooler and we were comfortable there most of the week.

Audry helping the children cross the street
On Tuesday, I was running late and unable to finish my Quiet Time with JESUS before Bible School so I brought my devotion books with me, and thought i would read when i got a chance.  Once i got there, and we got all situated, the LORD prompted me to let Audry and Denise and Frankie join in, so Denise read the "Daily Light" Scriptures and as she did, she would pause between most of the verses and want to talk about them.  She wasn't in any hurry, just soaking in the Word of GOD and wanting to apply it to everyday life.  In between reading the Scripture, we took turns helping the classes cross the street where they were going to the Family Life Center for Snack Time, Craft Time, and Recreation time.   No wonder they crossed the street so much!   Monday and Tuesday were pretty calm days as far as nursing goes, and except for a few band aids, there were no major incidences.

Little guy sporting the airplane goggles he made at craft time.

On Wednesday, i felt lead to "expand" my nursing station.  I had already been putting out "Chick" tracts, www.chick.com all week on my card table for the kids to come by and pick up, but on Weds. i took my rod and reel, my tackle box, and a great big stuffed catfish.  Above the table i had a poster i had made a couple of years ago that said, "Follow Me and i will make you fishers of men."  Matt. 4:19.  I made a sign that said "Free Tracts, Take One," and that day the kids really started picking up the tracts.  I had ordered a sample pack, along with one tract in particular GOD really used in my life to convict me growing up called, "This Was Your Life." You can read that powerful little tract here http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0001/0001_01.asp.  I was really thankful the LORD allowed the tracts to get here on Monday because i ordered them last week and didn't pay the extra shipping to have them shipped faster.  The LORD got them here in plenty of time to get them out to the kids and their parents.  Please pray the LORD will use the little tracts to speak to the hearts of those who read them, and many will come to know CHRIST through them.

Nursing Station

Well, in the midst of bringing all the "Fishing Stuff," Weds.  I forgot my nursing bag.  I didn't even realize it  until i was coming back from the FLC from taking "Frankie" over for his snack, and a little boy was there with his teacher's helper waiting for a band-aid.  I looked under the table, in my car...no bag.  Thankfully, our Minister of Children's wife, was there, and she said her husband had a first aid kit in his office which had plenty of bandaids and other supplies.  As i walked back across the street with the "First Aid" kit, Br. David and Jackie Jackson was coming out the door with a little boy who had fallen on a balance beam and hit himself in a very tender place.  Rosalyn Freeman, over the VBS, suggested right away that we call Nadine, the school nurse, and i was all for that.  While they were trying to get a hold of Nadine,  i sat on the bench with the little guy, and started asking him some questions.  His teacher went for a cool cloth, and by the time Nadine arrived, she was teaching in another class, he was feeling much better and said he wasn't in any pain.  Nadine suggested we put ice on the place, and after we took him to the bridal room for privacy, she called his Mom.  Of course, i forgot my ice pack that day too, so i had to go to the FLC to get that...but i stayed with the little guy while Nadine place the ice pack on the outside of his shorts.  Since Nadine was done with her teaching duties for the day, and i had Frankie and Denise and Autry outside, i deferred to Nadine to wait for his Mom to come and i said i would come back and check on them.  When i came back, there was another little boy who had broken out in hives.  In the meantime, the little boy who had gotten hurt on the balance beam Mom came, and they decided to take him to the emergency room just to make sure everything was okay.  Thankfully, he was okay...it actually hit on the inside of his leg.  While Nadine called the little guy who had broke out in hives Mom,   I went back out to check on Frankie.   I sat down on the cooler and  was trying to write up a report about the other little guy getting hurt.  I went in to ask  Nadine if it was ok, and they said she had gone to the car to get her stethoscope ( i forgot that too that day-it was in my bag!).  A little guy had been eating his snack when he started having chest pains and trouble getting deep breaths.   Nadine listened to his chest and his lungs were clear she said.  She called his Mom on my phone...Nadine had left hers upstairs.   I'm glad I wasn't the only one who forgot something that day!  I had to go back out and check on my class, and I think the little guy was okay.  I honestly don't remember if they took him to the doctor or not.  He was part of the preschool program, and i think he just stayed the rest of the day.

Our "Class"-Frankie, Audry, and Denise

It was very humbling for me to forget my bag that day...real humbling, but i am so thankful the LORD had Nadine there and available to take over the harder cases that i wasn't quiet sure how to deal with.  Nadine was so helpful and i learned a lot what i could and couldn't do as a nurse.  She always calls the parents to give them a heads up, like she encouraged me to the next day when a little girl got sick at her stomach and had a headache.  I really learned a lot from her and the LORD knew i needed her help and HE supplied it.  That evening is when i wrote ya'll and ask you to pray that no one else would get hurt the rest of the week,  or have chest pains or break out in hives and they didn't.   Beyond a couple of kids having headaches and nausea, and a little scrape on a knee, the rest of the week was very calm as far as they nursing went, and i remembered to bring my bag the rest of the week!  GOD answered your prayers, thank you so much!

When i forgot my bag, i got to thinking about what it feels like to not be equipped to do your job that GOD gives you.  I had set up a table that said, "Follow you and I will make you fishers of men."  My main job was to "Be a Fisher of Children," through being available as a nurse to them and i had forgotten my bag, and was not equipped to take care of them.  I got to thinking about the verse,
"But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;" I Peter 3:15

I felt really badly not to be equipped with even a simple thing as a band aid that morning, but how much worse is it not to be ready and equipped to share the HOPE that lies within us.  Sometimes, often times i am too preoccupied with my own concerns that i don't realize the opportunities that GOD has given me to share a word of encouragement, or a cup of cool water (as Autry and Denise shared with Frankie as they went and got drinks for him), or share a listening ear, or a drum for Frankie and the kids to bang on...or show interest in a young person whose Mom is in jail such as the LORD brought me this week.  There was the nicest young man who helped in VBS this week.  Josh really showed an interest in my fishing stuff, and he organized my tackle box for me.  As i talked to him, he told me his Mom was in jail.  It's just him and his sister and Dad.  He liked to fish and I told him i would take him, but then Johnny said it would be better if a man did that.  This morning when i went for a walk, i was talking to one of my neighbors that i met this week that goes to our church, and she said her son had gone fishing just yesterday with Comer Beasley, who teaches Josh's age in SS.  I called Mr. Beasley tonight and he said he would be glad to give Josh a call.  I spoke with Josh this evening and he told me that he accepted CHRIST, just two weeks ago at Whitesburg Baptist Youth camp.  This week, he is going to youth camp with West Highland Baptist.  He is a special young man, please remember him and his family in your prayers as you read this.

Thankfully, the rest of the week were no medical emergencies as i shared.  On Thursday i brought my mandolin, and Denise had fun playing around with it  along with Max, a little Down's syndrome guy.  I was so touched by the young lady who brought him each day...she had a 10 month  baby, and Max was not even her own son, but she loved him like her own and brought him every day.

Max playing the mandolin

I had fun too, getting it out and playing.  It was amazing to me the soothing effect it seemed to have on Frankie.  Thursday evening they had Family night for VBS, and i had really not had a lot of time to think about if i was going or not.  I knew Audry and Denise wanted to but the bus wasn't running, and i just didn't know if i would feel up to it.  I didn't...but i called our Children's Minister and he said that they could sing a couple of songs the next day at the closing assembly.  I thought about getting Denise to sing  "You Are My Sunshine" to her Mom, but the next day, we decided to sing, "Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone," and "Jesus Loves Me."  Frankie, joined in on "JESUS Loves Me," playing the drum.  One hand of his is crooked, so he played with his good hand.

When i told them the next day we were going to sing, they were so excited.  We practiced several times throughout the morning, and when it came time for the closing assembly we got in the sanctuary early.  The other kids came in and filled up the place...there was 351 there on Friday, and they were in "high speed"singing the theme song for "Amazing Wonders."  It seemed like VBS on steroids!  Br. David told us at church this morning that there were 20-25 decisions made for CHRIST!  Now that is an "Amazing Wonder!" Praise GOD from WHOM all blessings flow!

VBS Kids Singing "Amazing Wonders" last day...

I wished we had come in there all week, but it just didn't dawn on me in the midst of getting "Frankie," out to the bus, and getting the kids across the street safely.  When it came time for my "class" to sing, Audry and Denise marched up on the podium and came down a few steps so i could be with them playing the djembe on "Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone."  I told them to think about the words and sing it as unto the LORD, because we were leading the others to worship the LORD.  That's what Br. Ryan teaches us in choir, that we are the lead worshippers, "Don't Just Sing, Lead in Worship!"    Audry and Denise did a great job, and  the children joined in with us on the chorus..."My chains are gone, i've been set free, My GOD my SAVIOR, has ransomed me, and like a flood, HIS mercy reigns, unending love, amazing grace." After that we immediately sang "JESUS Loves Me," while Frankie banged the drum with his good hand.  The kids really joined in on that one...

It was a great week for me.   I learned a lot from Audry and Denise and Frankie.  I learned they have a whole lot of love, and are smart and have spiritual discernment that many who are smart in the things of the world don't have.  Frankie told me how much he appreciated me helping him and he wants me to do it next year at VBS.  Frankie would talk about JESUS dying for us on the cross, and he had a cross drawn on his Etch a Sketch all week.  He told me he really enjoyed watching the children, and it blessed me each time a child would take time to say "Hi" to Frankie. It must bless the LORD every time HE sees us being kind to one another, and to those who are "Crippled Lambs," and can't keep up.

I read that book to them this week, "The Crippled Lamb," and i told them why it was so special to me, and that i was like the lamb in the story, i couldn't keep up with everyone else, but GOD has a special place for those of us who can't keep up with everyone else, like Josh, the lamb in the story of "The Crippled Lamb."

Denise read the devotion from Charles Spurgeon below to us on Weds. morning.  That was the  morning that got so hectic, when i  forgot my nursing bag, when several needed a nurse.  Audry and Denise had to look after Frankie, and help the kids across the road without me much of the time.  It was so timely because they knew they were serving GOD in VBS exactly where GOD had a place for them...and I knew that GOD had made a special place for me to serve HIM this week at VBS.

"Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called."—1 Corinthians 7:20.
OME persons have the foolish notion that the only way in which they can live for God is by becoming ministers, missionaries, or Bible women. Alas! how many would be shut out from any opportunity of magnifying the Most High if this were the case. Beloved, it is not office, it is earnestness; it is not position, it is grace which will enable us to glorify God. God is most surely glorified in that cobbler's stall, where the godly worker, as he plies the awl, sings of the Saviour's love, ay, glorified far more than in many a prebendal stall where official religiousness performs its scanty duties. The name of Jesus is glorified by the poor unlearned carter as he drives his horse, and blesses his God, or speaks to his fellow labourer by the roadside, as much as by the popular divine who, throughout the country, like Boanerges, is thundering out the gospel. God is glorified by our serving Him in our proper vocations. Take care, dear reader, that you do not forsake the path of duty by leaving your occupation, and take care you do not dishonour your profession while in it. Think little of yourselves, but do not think too little of your callings. Every lawful trade may be sanctified by the gospel to noblest ends. Turn to the Bible, and you will find the most menial forms of labour connected either with most daring deeds of faith, or with persons whose lives have been illustrious for holiness. Therefore be not discontented with your calling. Whatever God has made your position, or your work, abide in that, unless you are quite sure that he calls you to something else. Let your first care be to glorify God to the utmost of your power where you are. Fill your present sphere to His praise, and if He needs you in another He will show it you. This evening lay aside vexatious ambition, and embrace peaceful content.

It truly was "Amazing Wonders," for this old gal who would love to be able to go on a "Foreign Mission Trip" someday.  But like Josh, "The Crippled Lamb," i can't keep up.  But GOD has a special place for HIS little "Crippled Lambs," and this week for me, and Frankie, and Autry, and Denise, it was helping the children cross the street safely, going and getting snacks for Frankie, playing and singing music together, and putting a band aid or two on when i didn't forget my bag.

Sweet Baby Josie and her dear Mom, Catherine at VBS.
Baby Josie is one of GOD's special lambs too.

Thank YOU, JESUS for having a place for me at VBS this week to serve you...it was an "Amazing Wonder," and i thank YOU for providing all my needs in CHRIST JESUS, each and every day.   Thank YOU for using Frankie, Autry, and Denise to show me YOUR love in a fresh new way that is not bound by physical limitations here on earth, but in fact, magnified through their weaknesses.  "My grace is sufficient for you, for MY power is made perfect in weakness." II Cor. 12:9 You truly do "Amazing Wonders," through our common, weak lives JESUS...thank YOU so much for YOUR love for us.  I told my husband when he got in from work Friday afternoon that no one had died on my watch this past week, in nursing or crossing the street...now that was an "Amazing Wonder!"

                                                                               With all HIS love,

                                                                                mitzi
