A Bride, A Groom, and Treasuring CHRIST

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. (Matthew 13:44)

Dear Praying Friends and Family,
It's been a while since i've written...we've celebrated CHRISTmas, our son and his bride were married in a very beautiful and CHRIST centered ceremony, and we enjoyed Hannah Beth home for over a month.  She was blessed to go to Passion 2013 in Atlanta after the wedding and stay with her old roommate at Mobile who is now at Liberty University.  So thankful for her safe traveling journeys to Atlanta and back, and to Mobile and all.
I want to thank all of my dear family and friends for coming to the wedding.  Your support was amazing!  Thank you, Tracy and Cheryl, Lee and Nick for coming in from Texas, Jill and Dennis, Lizzie and Jonathon, coming from Mississippi, Daniel and his girlfriend from Auburn and below B'ham, Dallas and Laurie from Florence...  So thankful for my brothers and their families from here being a part of our celebration.  Joe and Marilyn, thank ya'll for housing our out of town family who were home for the wedding and the holidays.  May the LORD richly bless you for your kindness and your hospitality.  I am very thankful that my Mom and Dad were able to be there along with many of  our friends.  Thank you for your very generous gifts to our children as they began their new life as one in CHRIST.  The past three weeks have been "crazy," as my son's wife said on her FB page yesterday trying to get settled in to being married, and for Amanda, a new apartment in B'ham, a new job at UAB, and a new place to do clinicals.  Please remember the newlyweds in your prayers as they study and work, and love each other and CHRIST and others. Last night i talked with my son for just a few minutes as he called to ask about a wedding gift.  They were working on thank you notes...so please be patient with them as they get the notes out.

The wedding for me was a lot of fun...once i got there.  That morning my nurse called and asked if i wanted an IV. She said it was weird, she had some cancellations and i was further down on the list but she went to my name first. It was a little earlier than i usually get it but i did feel out of gas so i said yes.  I'm thankful the LORD provided it for me so that i could enjoy the wedding more. The IV went well and  I thought i had left myself plenty of time to get ready.  When i started to get ready i realized i couldn't find my strapless bra.  My dress wasn't strapless but it had these little skinny straps so i bought i REALLY NICE high dollar bra to wear under it at David's Bridal.  It would also hold parts of me in that are a little "rolly." Well, i just could not find that bra anywhere when i started getting ready, and was clueless to what i had done with it.  I prayed and ask the LORD to show me, to guide my eyes to it, and HE didn't.  I'm not sure why.  I could have gone and bought another one, but i was supposed to go by my gal's house that does my hair, and the place to buy the bra was after that.  I wanted to be dressed and ready to go after i left her house.  So the LORD put it in my heart to see if i could borrow one....and within 30 minutes, i had 3 strapless bras to take with me and surely i thought one of them would fit me.
We were supposed to be at the church for family pictures at 4:00 p.m. that afternoon.  Well the bra trouble put me behind about 30 minutes so i was running late.  By the time i got to my friend's house for her to help me with my hair and makeup, i was pretty stressed.  Walking in her house was like walking into peace, as she loves CHRIST, and her home and her countenance was just what a needed at that time.  She let me get dressed in the nursery where her sweet little baby boy sleeps, and i enjoyed looking at the prayers and encouragement she had written on the wall for her young son.  I told her when her son gets to be my son's age, she will still have those same hopes and desires for him, and she will be able to see some of them come true, as i was seeing my son's dreams come true, and the long time prayers for his wife since before he was born were being answered.  It was a good reminder to me, and brought tears to my eyes.  I started trying on the bra's and thankfully one of them fit, and along with the spanks that i have never one before, it held everything in pretty well.
Sarah, my hairdresser, started curling my hair with her curling iron, and she helped me with my makeup, while her little baby boy laid sweetly in his little seat and played.  It was funny in an odd way...her little guy in his baby seat, and my little guy was getting married...today was his wedding day!
Once i left her house, i was running about 20 minutes late, but thankfully got to the church safely in downtown Huntsville and we had plenty of time for pictures.  I want to apologize to my family for not getting a family picture together with us all.  I just didn't have my head on straight, and i regret that we didn't get a big family picture when we were all there....please forgive me.  Once the pictures were over, we had a little time to just relax before the wedding.  I was so thankful my Mom and Dad were able to be there and they came right on time so that Mom could be seated first.  She looked so pretty in her red sparkly jacket my sis had bought for her.  She had had her hair fixed that day and Mom looked really pretty.  I really appreciate the effort my Mom and Dad made to be there.  I know she doesn't feel well, and it was a real sacrifice for her to come.  Daddy looked so proud that Mom had come with him.
By wedding time, we were all in line ready to be seated and everything was going well except at the last minute, i didn't have my bouquet i was supposed to take down.  Amanda's Mom sent her son down to see if i had left it in my seat up front and sure enough i had....so after that it was FUN!
We all got to walk down the aisle and it seems like a dream now.  My son looked so happy and handsome as he stood up there waiting for his bride to come and join him in marriage.  My husband was his best man, two of Amanda's brother's were groomsmen, my nephew, and a friend of JM's from church. The bridesmaids were beautiful in their plum dresses, and HB was one of the bridesmaids, along with Amanda's sis, and some others friends.

Amanda was the most beautiful bride as she walked down that aisle in her white dress on her Daddy's arm, and JM couldn't have been more radiant and pleased.  He had waited a long time for this day, and GOD had given him the desire of his heart.
After they repeated their vows to one another, they had a parent's prayer where we walked on the podium with them and Johnny and Amanda's Dad prayed for their marriage, while Lauren Haynes sang, "In CHRIST Alone."  It was a very special time for me and Johnny prayed a prayer of blessing from Numbers 6:24-26: "The LORD bless you and keep you, the LORD make HIS face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."  Johnny also prayed for them what the preacher prayed when we got married, that GOD would bless them with enough adversity to keep us humble, and enough happy times to keep us from being discouraged, or something like that.  Sometimes i wish Br. Mike hadn't prayed that adversity part for us:).
It wasn't long after the prayer that they were pronounced husband and wife and JM laid a big kiss on his new bride.  Br. Andy was so funny.  He asked them if that was their first kiss.   Who said homeschoolers didn't know how to kiss:)?

The reception was a short distance away at an older home in the historic district.  It was really decorated beautifully and the food was overflowing with all kinds of sandwiches, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, hot chocolate bar, etc.  The wedding party came in and was announced to everyone, and then the fun began with the dancing.  I was sitting at the table with Br. Andy and his wife, and my friend Gena Spearing and her husband, when all of the sudden Gena said come on let's go dance!  Before i knew it was between her and her husband and several of the young folks attempting the "Cupid Shuffle." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExC1oGN5J28.  This is where i got  into some bra trouble again...the bra i borrowed didn't quiet hold everything up and in like the bra i had purchased.   I want to apologize to my family and friends for my dress showing more than it should have....for those of you who haven't seen me in a while, i haven't gone off the deep end, the dress was just a tad lower than i meant for it to be and with not as much support up top,....well, i did show some cleavage and i am sorry.    I did have the straps taken up so that wouldn't happen but it happened anyway....please forgive me for not being as modest as i should have been.

Apart from the bra troubles, I had  a ton of fun dancing, and being with all of you who the LORD blessed us with to share this special time in our family.  There was a photo booth set up at the reception and everyone seemed to enjoy getting their pictures made in a crazy way for the scrap book for the bride and groom.  I was blessed to get mine made with my nephew Nicholas as we dressed up in crazy hats and glasses!
The bride and groom cut the cake and they got away fairly early and it was fun watching them walk down the hall together as everyone blew bubbles and begin their new lives together as husband and wife.

They spent their honeymoon in New York City, another longtime desire of John Mac's heart, to go to NYC. They were there for New Years Eve and were able to see the ball drop.  I think they had to wait 10 hours out in the cold to do that....without bathrooms!

We were thankful when they returned home safely and enjoyed getting to spend much time with them the following weekend hearing about their trip before they returned to school the following Monday to begin their news lives as one in CHRIST together.
Please remember the newlyweds in your prayers as they settle in to school and work and as they look for a church home in B'ham.

My son sure did remind me of the love that CHRIST has for HIS bride the church, when he married the desire of his heart.  You could tell, they both treasured one another, him her, and her him.  CHRIST does treasure us and loves us so much HE left HIS home in heaven, as King of Kings, as the CREATOR of ALL, to humble HIMSELF, and  be nailed to a wooden cross so that we could become HIS treasures, and be redeemed from our sins and the flames of hell forever and ever.  HE asks us to forsake all, to count all things loss for the sake of knowing HIM....and TREASURE HIM.  Have you done that?  You can do it right now by confessing your sins and asking CHRIST to be your great TREASURE, forsaking all to follow HIM.

HB returned to school this past Monday, and we enjoyed having her home so much over the long break.

It's already been a stressful week for her....she had to make a perfect score on a Math test to be able to proceed on,  and thankfully she did,but her roommate and some other friends haven't been able to pass it yet.   She has Med Surg 2 this semester, her last semester of nursing school! Wow...please pray for her and her classmates as you read this.  She is planning to do a 5 week practicum in the emergency room.  She has accepted a job for the summer as Camp Nurse at Camp SAMBICA in Washington State...www.sambica.com.  This too, is a longtime desire of her heart, to go to camp.  When she was young, we didn't let her go to overnight camps...she went to day camps, and some overnight GA events, but never a full fledged camp.  Well, over CHRISTmas, my niece, who had been a counselor there mentioned she ought to go to Camp Sambica.  I didn't like where this was going...this was the same niece that said she ought to go to school in Mobile!  HB talked to her Daddy, and decided to apply for a camp counselor job.  Before she got out of bed the next morning, the camp director who doesn't usually do the hiring called and asked her to be the Camp Nurse!  She didn't feel confident about accepting that position since she doesn't have any experience but they reassured her she could do it, and there is a nearby hospital.  I have a wilderness first aid book she can take a crash course in when she gets closer to time to go.  She has a lot of schooling left before she starts thinking about all of that....but i am happy for her, and once again, as her Daddy explained, this is GOD giving her the long time desire of her heart.

"Delight yourself also in the LORD, and HE will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart." Psalm 37:4

I like to say "Treasure CHRIST," spend time with HIM in HIS WORD,  in prayer, obey HIM, and HE will put HIS desires in your heart. HE loves to fulfill those desires that HE has placed within our hearts to accomplish HIS plans and purposes.

As i have written this GOD has led me in a completely different way to write than i thought i was going to when i started.  But HE has ministered to my heart, as i reflect and see the ways that HE has given both of my children long time desires of their hearts as they delight in HIM.  I know that you, like me, can reflect back on your life, and be thankful for desires of your heart the LORD has given you after many years of waiting...as i write, one pops in my mind, the Publix right down the street.  Many years ago i drove to Madison and further to get organic food, and i used to wish we had one in Athens.  A few years ago, GOD had one built down the street from our house and it has been such a blessing. Like me, you still have some of those desires unfilled, and that is where faith comes in, and waiting on the LORD, and trusting in HIM, to do and see and fulfill what we cannot.  I ask you to pray for me tonight, as there is a desire of my heart that has been there for several years, and i have prayed countless prayers for GOD to bring it to pass.  There are times when it seems GOD is about to do it, and then, i have to walk by faith and trust HIM when the bottom seems to fall out.  Thinking about GOD giving my son the desire of his heart, and my daughter the desire of her heart, sure does increase my faith.  It is always  such a blessing to reflect on GOD's faithfulness in the past, to help us to trust HIM for the future.

This Sunday, the choir at our church is singing, "Knowing YOU," for the choir special.  As i was practicing it on the drums tonight and watching the video i was so blessed and i wanted to share it with you- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rl45JnnRSw .Over CHRISTmas i have started using my IPad during my Quiet Time to look up the images of verses i'm studying. You can do that by googling a verse, and just hitting "image," at the top.    One of the pictures i came across in my studies is of a great big beautiful diamond.  I look at that diamond and i think about CHRIST, our greatest TREASURE, and how i want to know HIM and love HIM more and delight in HIM.  I pray this song will be a great blessing to your heart as JESUS is to mine..."There is no greater thing, You're my all, You're the Best, You're my Joy,  my Righteousness, and I love you, LORD."

I have enjoyed a new blogsite i found over the holidays called "Treasuring CHRIST." I love the name of the blogsite...and i highly recommend it. The site is www.treasuring-christ.org  and it's all about helping us to treaure CHRIST above everything. I also found a great website to help you do Bible Study.  Its called www.preceptaustin.org and it has a fabulous library of conservative godly men like Charles Spurgeon, John MacArthur,  and so many more. It also includes some daily devotions.  Just a great site to help us "Treasure CHRIST," deeper and deeper.

As i write this first email of the new year, i want to "Treasure CHRIST," deeper and deeper this year.  I have been discouraged a bit with my health because i haven't felt like getting off the couch and doing a lot, but in this time of not being energetic, i have spent much more time at the feet of my SAVIOR, learning to treasure CHRIST and count all things loss for the sake of knowing HIM.  That is a blessing, and i thank GOD for this time to sit at HIS feet.  While i hope to get more energetic, i know that GOD knows the measure of health i need to "Treasure HIM" and to accomplish the plans and purposes HE has for me at this season of my life.  Please pray for me, and for the wisdom of my doctors who are trying to help me.

I love you and i really appreciate you taking time to read this email....and to be our friends and family.  Thank you so much for showing us the overflowing love of CHRIST to us through your dear lives.

                                                                                                      With all HIS love,
                                                                                                                   mitzi

P.S. Here is another beautiful song we are singing this Sunday....the video of this one really touched me. LORD, help me to stand (sit) amazed in YOUR  presence, help me to TREASURE YOU above my health, above everything else, to " consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things"....."I Stand Amazed in the Presence" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7QuZ4wo1X4

Merry CHRISTmas-We're Have a Wedding Next Week!

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

Merry CHRISTmas!  I know you are like me busy getting ready for CHRISTmas and you probably don't even have time to take a look at this writing.  But if you have a few minutes, i pray the LORD will use these words, pictures, and music to encourage your heart of HIS great faithfulness to provide all our needs in CHRIST JESUS, whether it be for a wedding that is just literally  a few days away for our family, or for our greatest need, the forgiveness of our sins.  I hope you like me, will not miss CHRISTmas, because of the busyness of the season...See Dr. David Jeremiah's  "People Who Missed Christmas" → http://ow.ly/gdfOf .  GOD sent HIS SON, EMMANUEL, to be with us, and help us in whatever circumstances HE has engineered for us.

My Mom and Dad standing in front of a CHRISTmas Decoration my Dad made 50 years ago or more!

Before i go any further, i want to wish my dear oldest brother Joe, a very Happy Birthday!  Thank you, Joe, for being such a prayer warrior for our family, and great example for your little sis.  Thank you for loving me and taking care of me when i was in "Headstart," and you were a senior and i ran to the bandroom everyday looking for you.  You were so patient and gently carried me back to my class.  I love you and Happy, Happy Birthday, Joe!

If you haven't heard, we are having a wedding next week...two days after CHRISTmas!  Our son is marrying the desire of his heart, Amanda CHRISTian. We have always prayed our children would marry CHRISTian mates since before they were born.  I didn't realize GOD would give our oldest born literally a "CHRISTian" in name to marry.   If you missed my writing about it last December, you can go to http://mitzi-hisgraceissufficient.blogspot.com/2011/12/whose-heart-lord-opened-acts-1614-our.html and read about the engagement.  Believe me, there was a whole lot more to the story.  I wanted to share all the romantic details and how GOD patiently blossomed their courtship but it got "edited," and i had to leave out the really interesting parts:).   I love to hear how the LORD brings two young people together or two older people together to marry.  Sometimes it's love at first site on one person's side and not the other, sometimes there is a mutual attraction and the love grows between both, and sometime's two people are friends for a while before they realize that GOD has led them together to be one in HIM.  There are a jillion scenarios the LORD uses to bring people together to accomplish the plans and purposes HE has for them individually and together as One in CHRIST.

So we are having a wedding next week, two days after CHRISTmas!  Definitely not the time i would have chosen, but it's the time GOD chose, and once again in HIS great faithfulness, HE is getting the wedding preparations done through these weak vessels.  Of course, being the groom's Mom, i haven't had near the responsibilities to think about that Amanda's Mom has, but GOD has been gracious to get the things done our side needs to be doing in order to prepare for their wedding and for the rehearsal dinner.

This past week was another example of GOD's great faithfulness to provide me the help i needed for the rehearsal dinner.  Johnny and i had met with the lady at the restaurant, an Italian restaurant in Madison, a few weeks ago to coordinate the plans for the dinner.    I was delighted to learn that the room would be decorated for CHRISTmas so unless we just wanted to, i wouldn't need to do a lot of decorating.  I just kind of left it at that.   Then my sis started texting me earlier this week about some decorating ideas (she got ALL the decorating talent in our family)  for the dinner.   I thought they were good ideas, and planned to go to Walmart and check out some of her suggestions.  For some reason, (GOD was leading me to even more help) after i got off the phone with her,  I turned around and called Hilda Waldrop, my mother in laws next door neighbor, best friend, and DECORATOR EXTRAORDINAIRE!  Hilda answered the phone and i asked her if she had a minute and she said she did.  I asked her if she would help me decorate for the rehearsal dinner.  She gave me some great ideas like purple and pink ornaments and purple ribbons on the tables.  She said she would check her supply of things to decorate with and then after i went to Design World where ornaments were 50% off we'd check back with each other.  I called Hannah Beth to see if she would go with me and she said she would.  In the meantime, Hilda walked next door to my Mother in law's house, and talked with HB, my niece Corinne, whose Mom is very talented at decorating, and my Mother in law.  Little known to me while i was shopping, they were brainstorming about the rehearsal dinner.  By the time I got home, and HB met me at home...GOD had implanted ideas inside my daughter and my niece's head and by the time we went shopping, I basically went along for the ride.

About 3:00 p.m. we headed out, after waiting for Phillip (my "adopted," son) to arrive.  I keep him after school three days a week.  He is out for CHRISTmas vacation, but since his Momma is in heaven, and big sis, Natalie had a job interview, he came on over.  We "kidnapped", him and away we went out the door, heading towards Huntsville.  Even though i told HB i had seen the room at the restaurant, she insisted we go again and look at it.  I am so glad she did.  The room that was going to be "decorated," had three little small gifts on each table.  Not at all how i pictured it.  Also, the girls were able to see how many tables and how they would be set up.  It was a very productive trip and so glad i listened to HB.
After we left the restaurant, we headed back to Madison to Design World...this is where things got a little tense.  We walked in and started walking up and down the aisles.  We got separated and we were all looking at different things.  The girls said that burlap was real popular right now so they suggested we use some on the tables.  Some of us were looking at burlap, some ribbon, and i don't know what i was looking at...just kind of wondering around.  We all met back together, and Corinne said, "Could we just "succinctly" go up and down each row and look and see what they had?" Succinctly?"   HB and I, who operate more harem scarem,  looked at each other and i could tell that HB was sinking and stressed, and that made me stressed.  I asked her if she needed to eat and she did.    We looked around a little more looking at the different types of burlap and all of the sudden it dawned on me, we needed to pray.  So we stopped right there in the store in front of the burlap and the three of us prayed and asked GOD to guide us and show us what we needed to buy for HIS glory.  It was amazing how GOD answered our prayers. HE  led the girls to right colors, a deep plum purple, and to the right burlap and ribbon. A friend sent me a message on FB and said she had some glass globes we could use, along with some clear marbles she had used at her daughters recent wedding. Great!  That was a huge blessing!  While we shopped, Phillip sweetly played on his new Kindle that he just got for his birthday last week...he just turned 10!  We got the ribbon and burlap and decided to go eat at Chipolte (pronounced Chipolay...i found that out today when i said Chipol "t" and the girls laughed at me and corrected me on that.
After we ate a good healthy meal there, they serve huge burritos with antibiotic and hormone free meat), we were pumped and ready to go again! We went on to Hobby Lobby.  Once in Hobby Lobby, the girls picked out the remaining decorations for the tables, some dried plum colored flowers, some plum and gold colored balls, and some wooden balls to fill the glass globes.  Sweet little Phillip picked out a rustic looking cross for the head table. GOD just really brought it all together and we had a ball coming home.  We stopped at Providence place to get frozen yogurt. Providence is a "yuppy," area just outside of Huntsville that has the fill of "old town," big city, and reminds me of parts of Dallas where i have stayed when i go to see my doctor out there. When we got there, HB told Phillip she wanted to see him do the "wobble."  If you don't know what that is...HB can give you lessons like she did me a couple of weeks ago...it's a dance that's popular now and they are planning it to do it at the reception.  Phillip and HB and Corinne got out of the car and in the parking lot with the music playing...HB, Corinne and Phillip are doing the "wobble."  It was a lot of fun and wish i had a picture to show you...but you'll just have to imagine it.
We went inside and got yogurt, and had a fun time eating our various flavors...i got eggnog, Corinne, birthday cake batter i believe, and i can't remember what HB and Phillip got.  I just remember Phillip having a heaping pile of red gummy things on top of his and i'm telling him, "Go easy on the toppings!"

At the yogurt shop!

After we ate our yogurt, we headed back to the big city of Athens, going the back roads so we could see the CHRISTmas lights.  Phillip had this bright idea that every time we saw CHRISTmas lights to shout out a "code," name...HB being in nursing school, decides to use words dealing with bodily functions and anatomical sites such a "flatulence," which was her code, "belch," for Corinne, I was "sphincter," and Phillip was "gluteus maximus."  So every time we saw CHRISTmas lights, depending on who saw them first, yelled out their "code," name first, and then the rest of us followed....something like "Flatulence," yelled HB, "Gluteus Maximus," added Phillip, then, "Belch," by Corinne, and me, "sphincter."  I was not the "bottom," sphincter just to clarify....HB said there are like 3 different sphincters in the body so i was definitely one of the others!  Anyway, we had a ball on the way home looking at the lights and learning anatomy and bodily functions along the way!  Phillips Daddy told me today he would pay me back one day for our "good" influence on Phillip by keeping our grand kids (when we have them).     When we got back, Phillip's Dad met us after he just got out of church, a great time was had by all.

This is just one example of how GOD has provided help to me for our part in the wedding.  He has always been faithful to be strong in my weaknesses and HE continues to be strong.

Decorating is not one of my gifts, but it is others.  It blessed me so much to see how GOD provided my sis, Hilda, HB and Corinne, and my friend from church to help me.  Next Wednesday, if you think of us...say a prayer for us, as we will be setting up the room around 1:30 p.m. on our way to the rehearsal that afternoon.  I also sure am thankful for a young man at our church who is putting together a CD for the rehearsal and wedding, and for our Children's Minister allowing us to use the projector to show it on the screen at the restaurant. Thankful for my sis in law too, who gave me the idea for the rehearsal dinner invitations, and for my daughter in law to be sending me all the addresses and names and making it easy for me.  A special thank you to my hard working husband to pay for all of this....without him, there would be no funds to do this.  Thank you, baby, for your love and financial support and setting a great example for our son to be a loving husband and great Dad. Thank you for always pointing our family to JESUS.

LORD JESUS, thank YOU for all of YOUR help to me to accomplish YOUR plans and purposes even for this rehearsal dinner.  I ask YOU to be glorified in all that is said in done, and it will be a great time of encouragement in YOU for all who are attending. "

Well, i wasn't sure where this was going to end up when i started writing, but it all goes back to our great and faithful HEAVENLY FATHER WHO provides all our needs in CHRIST JESUS, and HE wants us to be wed to HIM and spend all eternity with HIM.   I am living proof that HE uses weak vessels to manifest HIS power through.

This CHRISTmas as we celebrate the birth of our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, think about the need that GOD saw that we had even before we knew or realized it..."But GOD demonstrates HIS love for us in that while we were yet sinners, CHRIST died for us." Romans 5:8.

"GOD knew what sin was going to cost HIM when HE created a world in which sin was possible.  GOd knew that HE HIMself was going to be the ONE to pay the price, that HE would have to become the helpless, slain LAMB. And HE was willing to do that." Elisabeth Elliot, www.elisabethelliot.org

My sweet Daddy made this manger for Baby JESUS- GOD's GREATEST GIFT to us!

GOD sent a little, weak baby to accomplish HIS plan...to pay the punishment for all the sins that you and I have ever committed...sins like selfishness, lust, hate, anger, lying, cheating, stealing, disrespect, slander, grumbling and complaining...sins we commit and we don't even realize that we have sinned until the HOLY SPIRIT convicts our hearts.  GOD sent JESUS to be the SAVIOR of the WORLD..."For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only SON, that whosoever believes in HIM shall not perish but have everlasting life."  John 3:16. Have you repented of your sins, and received that greatest GIFT that GOD could ever give us, eternal life in CHRIST JESUS?  You can do that right now, by repenting, turning away from your sins, and asking JESUS to cleanse you and be the LORD of your life.  Please let me know if you do that...and i encourage you to find a local church fellowship that teaches GOD's WORD, that will love on you, pray for you, and encourage you in your growth as a CHRISTian.  GOD loves to use the weak things of the world to display HIS power through and HE wants to have a relationship with you, and use you to bring much glory to HIM.

Thank you so much for taking time to read, and please remember our family in your prayers this upcoming week.  I just try not to think about it...and live one day at a time.  I really don't want to overlook CHRISTmas, looking past it to the wedding...one day at a time, sweet JESUS!  This has been the sweetest CHRISTmas season for me with GOD pouring out one blessing after another, "grace upon grace."  Getting to see Phillip in his CHRISTmas pageant at Lindsay Lane Baptist Academy earlier this week was such a special unexpected blessing!  It was a good old fashioned CHRISTmas pageant where the story of JESUS was told by the children, and acted out, and sang about singing the old fashioned CHRISTmas carols like "Joy to the World," "Away in a Manger," "O Come all Ye Faithful," to name a few.  It was so cute to see the children who were dressed up like camels, donkeys, and sheep. Phillip was a "townsperson," and HB and i fixed him up in a bathrobe and HB added the towel and ribbon around his head. She went with me to the pageant where we met Phillips Dad and his sis, Natalie.  Natalie was home from college too, and it was great to see HB and Natalie together again.  They were "BFF's"  when we were all homeschooling together.

Last week, GOD allowed me to play "Carol of the Drums," also known as "Little Drummer Boy," at our local community choir sing.  It was another special unexpected blessing from the LORD and how i praise HIM and thank HIM for all HIS kindness and for giving me the desire of my heart to play this song.  It's one i have loved since i was a little girl, and GOD was giving me the talent then to play for HIM.  Little did i know i would get the opportunity at 49 and 50 to play the drums for HIM at church.  Be sure and watch the video of "Little Drummer" boy from the 1960's show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDETOAHJj1c

We have so enjoyed having Hannah Beth home for about two weeks now...we have had a blast together, CHRISTmas shopping together, watching "Duck Dynasty," with Johnny (they are so funny together laughing...), helping me with wedding preparations, and teaching me the "wobble."  It has truly blessed me to see how the LORD JESUS is working in her heart and growing her in her relationship with HIM, and how it overflows into all the other areas of her life.  LORD willing she will be finishing her BSN in May and she is seeking the LORD's wisdom what to do after that.  Please pray for her to seek HIM and rest in HIM to lead and guide her paths.  JM finished his first semester of med school today!  So very thankful and proud for all that GOD is doing in his life...Please definitely remember him as he takes on the responsibilities of being a husband and spiritual leader to Amanda now, along with his studies.

GOD bless you all my dear friends and family....thank you so much for all your love and prayers for our family this year. Ya'll are an eternal blessing to us.   I am looking forward to seeing all of my family and many of you my dear friends at the wedding and over CHRISTmas. Remember JESUS is the REASON for the SEASON... HE is not a "cliche," HE's the reason for all that we are and live and do..."For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11.

Bless the LORD = Happy! Happy! Happy!

"Oh that men would praise [and confess to] the LORD HIS goodness and loving kindness, and HIS wonderful works to the children of men!  And let them  sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and rehearse HIS deeds with shouts of joy and HIS singing!"  Psalm 107:21-22 Amplified

                           Happy! Happy! Happy!

Dear Praying Friends and Family,
It's been  cold and overcast here in Alabama and a good cozy day to stay inside...in fact i stayed in my pj's and housecoat until this afternoon. My cold/cough/ headache /sore throat is still hanging on.  I told my husband when he left for work that i thought i would go back to bed. I never do that, but today i wasn't feeling good.  I didn't make it back to bed, but i felt good enough to spend time in my little place in the "joy" room with the LORD on the little love seat.  I am thankful i was able to focus and concentrate, even though i was feeling badly.  Just me and Troy and the LORD sitting on the couch surrounded by pictures of my loved ones i pray for,  daily calendars from Oswald Chambers, Elisabeth Elliot, Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Hannah Hurnard, and the Love Dare calendar, prayer lists,  my John MacArthur One Year Bible and of course my devotion books...lots of devotion books:).  On the back of the couch, squeezed in between me and the couch is Troy, our Maltipoo.  He loves to lay on the back of the couch, snuggled up real close to me and  does that every morning when i have my time with JESUS.  I forgot to mention something i added just yesterday...a yellow legal pad...one of those looong yellow legal pads to jot down the things i am thankful for.  This simple little yellow pad is a key to transforming my life and blessing the LORD.

I am thankful for my favorite place to start the day...

I have been really struggling with being thankful.  Instead my emotions have been naturally leading me to focus on all the negative things i don't like about my family and friends, and my circumstances in life.  Does that ever happen to you?  At 50, and going through some hormonal changes,  i'm sure that's had a lot to do with my "toxic" feelings.  Last Thursday morning, when i got up for Thanksgiving, the last thing i felt like doing was giving thanks for anything. GOD gently reminded me to get out my notebook and began writing things down that i was thankful for.   After sitting there for several minutes and my list was growing longer and longer, my spirits were truly lifted.. i know it blessed the LORD for me to take time and thank HIM for HIS blessings in my life.

Counting my blessings...naming them one by one.

A couple of weeks ago, the LORD reminded me through friends on FB who were writing down the things they were thankful for to start using my notebook again that i started last year when my body was going crazy on me. He reminded me  how miserable last Thanksgiving, last summer, and last fall was for me....real miserable.   HE led me to read a book about a lady that wrote down a 1,000 things she was thankful for and how it transformed her life.  I began doing that last year, not because i felt thankful but because i needed to count my blessings instead of focusing on the uncomfortableness my body was going through for months. Somewhere along the way this year, i stopped writing in my little journal.  I picked it up again a couple of weeks ago and began writing again.  I told Hannah Beth when she was home for Thanksgiving i needed to buy a new one, because i was almost out of pages, and then the LORD led me to go to the homeschool closet (yes, i still have a homeschool closet though we haven't homeschooled in a few years...i love it when the kids still go to it and get out school supplies, like index cards and paper) and got out one of those long yellow legal pads.  I started writing down the things i was thankful for yesterday and numbering them.  I love having that big long sheet of paper because it encourages me to write more.  It's not hard at all to think of things i'm thankful for once i get going, and it's really neat to see that long page fill up with GOD's blessings, HIS love, and HIS tendermercies.  I'm not sure what it is...but GOD tells us over and over to thank HIM, in everything...there is something supernatural about doing that that moves the heart of GOD and moves our heart.

"It is always possible to be thankful for what is given rather than to complain about what is not given.  One or the other becomes a habit of life."
                                                         -Elisabeth Elliot

So thankful for my brother's family and his son's  new bride!

My Daddy with his first greatgrandbaby, Caleb-
So thankful for both...

Tonight i was talking to my cousin on the phone and he was telling me about his little granddaughter who is almost four and is unable to feed herself.  She is at Children's hospital now, where they are trying to teach her how to eat.  She gets hooked up to an IV every night when she goes to bed for her nutrition, but her little body is failing her. Please pray for her and her sweet family.   One of our friends Johnny grew up with lost his 28 year old son in a car accident this past weekend.  Gene Chizik got fired as Auburn's coach after a miserable season after winning the national championship just two years ago.  Gene is a man of GOD and is learning another step of faith in giving thanks in everything...even when you get fired.

"The true CHRIST is thankful for all things.  How is it possible to be thankful for all things?  Because we trust HIM.  Trust is the ground of our Thanksgiving." Elisabeth Elliot

You and i could go on and on with difficult and tragic situations that can and do often rob us of our joy and peace in CHRIST JESUS. Not only difficult situations, but being envious of others robs us of our joy  too.

Advertisements often have one major goal: to make us discontented, woefully dissatisfied with who we are and what we have.

-Chuck Swindoll

There is something supernatural about giving thanks that unleashes GOD's power in our lives and the lives of others, especially in difficult times.

"When we choose the pathway of worship and giving thanks, especially in difficult circumstances, there is a fragrance that flows forth out of our lives to bless the LORD and others."  Nancy Leigh DeMoss,
www.reviveourhearts.com

One of the friends that blessed me on FB the most as she was writing her thanks each day was my friend Ronda.  Ronda's husband was killed in a car accident in the spring, and she was left a widow with two teenagers, and a 20 year old.  Her husband had been wrestling with brain cancer for several years.  When Al died, Ronda was left with the strain of running the family business that was already having financial struggles.  I know she has and continues to go through a difficult time, but each day in November, she has bravely shared something that she was thankful for...one day it was Hope...the hope that is ours in CHRIST JESUS, and that she will see her husband again in heaven.  There truly was a fragrant that flowed forth out of Ronda's life that blessed the LORD and all who read Ronda's thanksgiving posts.

JESUS, this JESUS that came into the world as a little baby,  died to save us from our sins, and he ROSE from the grave three days later!  He's Alive, just like i wrote about a couple of weeks ago, when i felt HIS nearness in my little kitchen as i washed the dishes and grieved over the recent elections.   I was listening to the song, "This Blood," http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQLlW_Bl4BA&feature=sharesang by Prestonwood Baptist choir when i felt that sense of HIS presence in a powerful way.  This is the JESUS, who turns weeping into joy, and gives us beauty for ashes, and restores the years the locust have eaten.

This morning in my "Amazing Grace," devotion book, it too was about thanking GOD...in particularly for our salvation.

"Thanks be to GOD for HIS indescribably gift!  ( 2 Cor. 9:15)     The gift of salvation-a personal relationship with almighty GOD-what an indescribably gift!  Yet how often do we sincerely thank our LORD for all that HE has done in making this possible:  Our lack of praise and thanksgiving for HIS gift of salvation can be likened to the response of the ten lepers after being miraculously healed by CHRIST (Luke 17:11-19).  Only one returned to express gratitude.  The interest of the other nine was centered more in what had happened to them personally than in remembering the One who had performed the miracle in their lives.  Are we ever guilty of the same carelessness?    It is interesting to imagine the life-long remorse that characterized these nine ungrateful lives:
I meant to go back, but you may guess I was filled with amazement, I cannot express
To think that after those horrible years, that passion of loathing and passion of fears,
Of sores unendurable-eaten, defiled-my flesh was as smooth as the flesh of a child.
I was drunken with joy; I was crazy with glee; I scarcely could walk and I scarcely could see.
For the dazzle of sunshine where all had been black; but I meant to go back, O I meant to go back!
          I had thought to return, when people came out; there were tears of rejoicing and laughter and shout;
My cup was so full I seemed nothing to lack!  But I meant to go back, Oh, I meant to go back!

Do you know JESUS CHRIST as your personal LORD and SAVIOR?  Have you invited HIM to come and cleanse you of your sins, and surrender your heart to HIM?  I invite you now, to ask HIM to cleanse you, and make you whole.  Then thank HIM for the price HE paid to do that for you. "For GOD loved the world so much, that HE gave HIS ONE and only SON, so that everyone who believes in HIM will not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

How many opportunities have you and i missed to thank the LORD because we don't take time to thank HIM.  Get you a yellow legal pad and start thanking HIM today!  You can get a whole stack of legal pads at Staples, and i plan to fill up a stack of them thanking the LORD.  Our pastor told us about a lady who had 14,000 Reasons to Thank GOD.  You and i do too, and more...let's get going, and bless the LORD by thanking HIM...

This week the LORD used another song to really speak to my heart , a song i've been listening to several times today called, "10,000 Reasons (Bless the LORD, O My Soul)  As i have started writing down my thanksgivings to the LORD, i am amazed at the difference it makes in my attitude...which definitely needed changing.  But it also is a blessing to the LORD when we take time to thank HIM.  I was sitting in church Sunday morning listening to a wonderful message about being thankful our pastor was preaching and my daughter texted me and thanked me for the food i had bought for her while she was home.  She was on her way back to school and had just left.  I did text her back (during church:), and told her i knew now how it made GOD feel when we thank HIM....it really blessed me, and it blesses HIM so much when we thank HIM.  I want to bless the LORD and as we remember to bless HIM and thank HIM...oh how HE blesses us!  I hope you'll take time to listen to this beautiful song, and let HIS love minister to you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXeyrNtQfrs. Better yet, Bless HIM,  thank HIM and let your love minister to HIM...

I am thankful for the time we had this week together with our family....HB was home from school for a week, John Mac was home for the weekend and was in and out, and we are so blessed.  One of the fun things we enjoyed was watching "Duck Dynasty" together.

I am thankful for special times as a family...watching "Duck Dynasty," together.

If you haven't watched that show, it's a winner, filled with the great outdoors, a godly family that the LORD has blessed their business tremendously http://www.duckcommander.com/, it's funny, and full of good advice for all ages from dating to marriage to work to working through conflict. The Daddy of the family has a saying, "Happy, Happy, Happy," and it's stuck in my head since i've been writing this email:).  One thing i've noticed is when we start thanking the LORD, HE indeed makes us happy, happy, happy and fills with HIS joy!   There are two new episodes coming on tomorrow night on A & E.  Not sure what time, Johnny does all the recording around here, so i mostly just watch shows he has recorded when he comes home from work and i never know what time the actual show is.

Speaking of Johnny, he'll be rolling in soon, and i need to get some clothes folded.  It's starting to look a lot like CHRISTmas around here...i'm excited, we have a live CHRISTmas tree for the first time i can remember in years.  It's a little one, but it's ALIVE, like my JESUS....  "Bless the LORD, O My Soul!"    Outside, we have a beautiful tree on the front porch...complete with big bulb lights like i grew up with..."Happy, Happy, Happy!"

I am thankful for  BIG LIGHTS

A month from today, my boy marries the girl of his heart's desire.  Please be in prayer for all of us, as we make the final preparations for the wedding, and pray their wedding and marriage will "Bless the LORD, O My Soul," and bear much fruit for our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

I am thankful for GOD giving my son the desires of his heart and my new daughter in law to be.

December 8th and 9th our choir and music ministry, at FBC will be sharing "An Athens CHRISTmas."  This is a great opportunity to invite your friends and Come and Bless the LORD by joining in with us to celebrate HIS birth...i sure hope to see you there.     I love being a part of the music ministry at First Baptist Athens...thank you, LORD!

I am so thankful to be a part of the choir and orchestra
I love playing the drums for JESUS!

I'm sorry i haven't filled you in on Dana Grammer in a while, but she has been released to move back to Alabama with her baby Tristan and she is Happy! Happy! Happy!   She continues to be in the process of getting custody of her son, Zach.  Her husband hasn't been cleared of his charges for spanking their son in the backyard, but he and Dana are very much together (even though separated by distance for now) and are so very thankful for GOD restoring their family thus far.  She was able to be with Zach over Thanksgiving, she even made the Thanksgiving meal for all of her family here in Alabama!   Dana sure looks forward to the day her husband can join them here in Alabama and they all be together as a family again. Please continue to remember their sweet family in your prayers.

I am thankful that Dana is back in Alabama with her sons and GOD is restoring her family!

I am so very thankful for you, and your sweet prayers on behalf of our family and loved ones.  Thank you so very much...your prayers and sweet fellowship in CHRIST JESUS bless me, bless the LORD and make me Happy! Happy! Happy!

                                                                      With all HIS love,

Let all that I am praise the Lord ; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord ; may I never forget the good things He does for me.
