Valentines from GOD and "Forgiveness"

    I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day...i had a full day spending time with my husband,  eating brunch with my Mom and Dad, attending a Valentine's party for "the widows and elderly"  spending time with Phillip, my "adopted" son at the creek and cooking supper for him and his Daddy.  Phillip's Mom went to be with JESUS less than two years ago after a lengthy fight with breast cancer. i have the blessing of keeping him three days a week after school until his Dad gets home from work.
  
            Valentine's Day can be a hard day for some just like for Phillip and his Dad whose Mom and wife aren't here anymore.  I can think of three young widows just off the top of my head whose "Valentines," have gone on to be with JESUS.  Taranda Greene, who sang with he gospel group the Greene's before her husband died,  posted on her FB site that it has been three years since her husband Tony went to be with JESUS.  They were married nine years...and got married on Valentines Day. She was funny, she said Tony always forgot special occasions so she  didn't miss not getting anything:). Tim Greene,Tony's brother we prayed for so long, was healed and continues to preach and sing the gospel all over the place http://www.thegreenesmusic.com/.  Thank you, LORD for answering our cries for Tim. 

  
        I mentioned above about a very special "Valentine's Party" that my sweet friend, Catherine Smith and her  children gave for the widow women and elderly women in her neighborhood  yesterday. I guess at 50...i am getting in the elderly range:). Catherine, a nurse practioner by college degree, stays home and  homeschools her precious children, which includes Josie, 3 who was born premature and has some difficult health challenges.   Catherine and her children made us homemade healthy treats, and served us as if we were at a fancy restaurant!  We had a wonderful time of fun, food, and fellowship because the love of CHRIST compelled this sweet family to minister to these ladies whose husbands and "valentines" of many years were no longer here. They invited several more, but some of the ladies were in the hospital...in fact,  3 of our friends were on Valentine's Day.

          Valentine's can be hard, when it seems as if the whole world around us is in love, getting flowers, and candy, and cards, and maybe our "Valentine," is no longer here to show us the love of CHRIST they once did...for whatever reason, it may be because of death, divorce, sickness, (a friend of mine's husband has been in the nursing home for over 10 years ) breakup in a relationship...or maybe your "Valentine," is like Tony and he forgets to get you something on those special days. There are many reason's that Valentine's can be difficult if we are honest....everyone wants to be loved and remembered by someone special. My husband's card and sweet words of encouragement were very dear to me, along with a little Teddy Bear Key chain he gave me....didn't cost a lot, but his words of encouragement meant the world to me.  He offered to get me roses, but i'm allergic to the fertilizer so we got his Mom roses and i told him i would just claim hers as mine too:).

  
  

      This morning i awoke  early and as i was praying,  I felt like the LORD was leading me to share with you some other words of encouragement I have been reading about GOD's love- HIS love for us, and HIS love through us. The older i grow in my relationship with CHRIST the more i come to understand the great love that GOD has for me and how He compels me to love others with HIS love. I call these "Valentines from GOD."

     These are just a few "Valentines from GOD" that i have been meditating on this week as i spent time with HIM in my quiet time.   Early this morning, i came across a blog where the lady shared how she liked to receive the little candy hearts from her Mom when she was little that had the words, "love," "miss you, "kiss me," "i'm yours," etc. on them.  I used to like to get those too when i was younger.  She said she spoke at a retreat on the images of GOD and they explored the presence of GOD in the "grandeur and in the small stuff."  They looked at how GOD can be "mysteriously vague and astonishingly present through the people we love and who love us. She said that a bishop once told her that he considered "prayers of adoration our "Valentines to GOD," because we express our utter delight and fascination  with being cherished by a GOD whom we recognize in the smiles, hugs and "luv u" messages received from others. 

  
  

  

  
  

  
  

  
  
     In the early morning hours that i read these words,  i thought  of the words that I have often heard Mrs. Betty Eudy  say after someone does something for her.  She exclaims, "That's a special blessing from the  LORD!"  Mrs. Eudy, a dear spiritual mother to me and i wrote about in my last blog, always sees GOD in the kindness of others  to her and recognizes and is thankful for  "Valentines from GOD."  http://mitzi-hisgraceissufficient.blogspot.com/2013/02/all-i-once-held-dear.html
  
  
  Seeing GOD's kindness in the acts of others and in their faces, helps us to cherish HIM and them is one way of giving "Valentines to GOD.  Taking time to spend with the "Lover of Our Soul,"  in HIS WORD and prayer daily is another way  we cherish HIM and make HIM glad.  These words from Charles Spurgeon from "Morning and Evening," Feb. 15 tell us how we cherish JESUS and make HIM glad:

  And who are thus privileged to make the Saviour glad? His church-his people. But is it possible? He makes us glad, but how can we make him glad? By our love. Hear his own eulogy of that love in the golden Canticle: "How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine!" See, loving heart, how he delights in you.        One more truth the blog i read this morning that struck my heart: a quote from the late Henri Nouwen that said,
  
  

    "The prerequisite to forgiveness is the knowledge that we are beloved by GOD.  Without it, we will never embrace the capacity within ourselves to both extend and receive mercy."  

  
  

     Whenever i am tempted to not forgive someone, GOD just has to remind me how very much HE has forgiven me, and that i have done the same thing and even worse, that others have done to me.  He takes my thought to the Cross of Calvary, the greatest "Valentine," of all from GOD, where HIS SON paid the price for my sins, and HE gives me the grace to forgive others with the mercy that i have been forgiven.       When CHRIST forgives us, we are forever changed.  We are not the same person that we were before...we have been born again, and HE fills our heart with HIS love for others.  As Charles Spurgeon said above, we make CHRIST glad  when we forgive others, and CHRIST unleashes HIS power of divine love  through us to love those who have sinned against us.
  
        I read a devotion a few days ago from the LOVE DARE devotion for couples that really spoke to me about HIS love that  fills our heart and puts HIS desires in our heart to reach others for HIM.  It was entitled, Love is Life's Motivator.

   "Anger can fuel hatred in a man's heart until he feels like attacking his enemy.  But love can spark kindness in his heart so he lays down his life for his friend.  Selfishness can drive a woman to tighten her grip and hoard her resources. But love can inspire her to open her hands and give sacrificially.  Love is the purest and most powerful motivator.  It gives courage to a coward, wisdom to a fool.  

      When love invades your heart, you are empowered to endure deeper pain, willingly pay a greater cost, and run risks to your reputation for the sake of another.  Love causes a soldier to lay down his life for his country, a mother to pray relentlessly for her child, and a gracious GOD to send HIS only SON to die for our sins.  Love is that powerful.

       Paul the apostle endured beatings, intense persecution, and hardship throughout his life.  He did it for one reason alone:  "CHRIST's love" compelled him.  If love began fueling your decisions, what would it drive you to do for your marriage?"

  
  

  
  

  

  
  

  
  

     Without the love of CHRIST dwelling inside of us, we can never love the way it describes love in the passage above.  Even with CHRIST dwelling in me, i often sin and fall short of HIS love.  Just put your name where it says, "Love," and see if you are always patient, kind, etc.  I am not...but the love of CHRIST compels us to keep loving, when our love ends.  

  
  
  
  I heard a powerful song a few weeks called "Forgiveness" by Matthew West.       Forgiveness by GOD's love and mercy through our LORD JESUS CHRIST  is the greatest Valentine we can receive...and give to others.  CHRIST forgives us for ALL of our sins that we might be HIS forever and HIS ambassador's of love to reach others with HIS compelling love.  Have you received CHRIST's forgiveness for your sins?  Come to HIM right now and ask HIM to forgive you and surrender your life to HIM.  HE is ready to forgive all who come to HIM.
  
  
  

  

  
  
  
         I hope these "Valentines from GOD" will help us  to understand the "strong, pure, steel-like"  love that CHRIST has for us and compel us to share HIS love with others.  HIS love is the sweetest of all, it never fails, it never grows weary or tired,  is always kind, always patient, pours itself out to the end, meets every need, and is always there for us.  HIS love reaches us in the hospital room, beside the grave, in the loneliness of our home or in a crowd, wherever we are HIS love is there with us.  HIS name is "Immanuel" GOD with us.   May we run to HIM to fill the  places in our hearts that no "valentine" on earth can fill.  Only HE can fill the empty places in our hearts with  HIS love and compel us "to love the unlovable, reach the unreachable,  and do the impossible, forgiveness."

"All I Once Held Dear"

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

        You all have been so very faithful to pray for my loved ones and i wanted to share with you how GOD has been faithful to answer your prayers for my dear friend, mentor, and spiritual mother Betty Eudy.  Two weeks ago, i sent out an "urgent" prayer request asking you to pray for Mrs. Eudy who was scheduled to have emergency surgery.   Many of you wrote me back and told me you were praying for Mrs. Eudy and how very grateful i am to you.  Mrs. Eudy has had numerous health challenges through the years, including being very sensitive to medications and has numerous food allergies.  When we were told she was going to have to have surgery, we knew she would be receiving numerous medications, including anesthesia, that could possibly be life threatening to her if she had a bad allergic reaction.  GOD heard the prayers of HIS children, and though Mrs. Eudy definitely has had some challenges, she has made it through her surgery remarkably well, and she continues to rehabilitate in one of our local facilities.  I praise GOD for answering your cries for her....thank you so much prayer warriors, and thank you, LORD JESUS.

     I left our church service tonight after i finished playing and decided to go by and see Mrs. Eudy in the place where she is in rehab. She was lying in her bed watching TV when i got there and had just finished supper.  While i was there the sweetest and prettiest young nurse (she reminded me of our dear daughter who is in her last semester of nursing school) came and helped her get ready for bed.  Once she got her "PJ's" on, we had the opportunity to have another sweet time of fellowship....one of many we have been able to have since she has been in the hospital and now rehabilitation.  We often talk about our children, church, ballgames (Mrs. Eudy is a HUGE sports fan-Alabama, Auburn, and Braves), but always our conversation comes back to the LORD....everything is centered in CHRIST with Mrs. Eudy, because HE is her life.  

    This past week the LORD helped me to remember the very first time i ever heard of this spiritual giant of a woman who has suffered in the flesh with physical illness over 30 years.  Johnny and i were engaged, and he was in a discipleship class at First Baptist.  Mrs. Eudy was in the class with Johnny and she gave him a set of tapes by Dr. John MacArthur,  www.gty.org on The Family.  I was attending the University of Montevallo at the time, and i can remember those cassette tapes sitting on my old dresser down there in my dorm room in Hanson...the oldest dorm on campus.  GOD used the teaching on those tapes to changed the direction of our family...even though we were not married yet.  I was in college pursuing a degree so i could have a career, and all of the sudden Dr. MacArthur  was teaching out of Titus 2 about being a homemaker, and the importance of a godly mother raising her children, and being "at home," to do that.  He didn't mean you are bound to the inside of your house all the time, but he meant making your family your "career," instead of working outside the home and trying to juggle a family too.  Some women certainly are in a position of not having a choice, but he taught us that GOD's pattern for the family is for the Mother to be a "full time," mom if possible, and invest your life in your family without the stressors of working outside the home.  So, that really set me and Johnny to thinking that's what we wanted me to do...to be able to stay home with the children.  GOD really blessed that "desire of our hearts," and blessed me with being home with our children. In my sickness, i didn't really have a choice, but, we were able to homeschool them, and because I was sick, it took away outside pressure to work outside the home.  
       GOD used Mrs. Eudy to introduce us to Dr. John MacArthur's biblical expository preaching, and GOD used his teaching greatly to disciple my husband and influence the way that he preached and taught the WORD of GOD.  When Johnny was in seminary, we had the privilege of hearing Dr. MacArthur speak at a Pastor's Conference in Richardson, Tx,.  GOD brought another tremendous blessing into our lives through that meeting- Gary and Anne Marie Ezzo, www.gfi.org  who were leading a parenting seminar at the Pastor's Conference.  Gary was on staff at John MacArthur's church at the time, and little did we know the blessing GOD had in store for us through that one little seminar we went to about parenting.  We didn't even have kids at the time, but Johnny bought their cassettes about training infants how to sleep through the night, and feed them on a flexible schedule instead of demand feeding.  Later when we got pregnant with John Mac we listened to their teaching and it helped us get him on a schedule and GOD eventually blessed us with more of their teaching for training our children and we were blessed to share that teaching with many young couples in our younger years....all this because Mrs. Betty Eudy shared John MacArthur with my husband in a Sunday night discipleship training class.  Amazing isn't it how GOD uses our lives to influence and impact others in ways we can't imagine for good and for bad.

     Mrs. Eudy introduced me to Elisabeth Elliot, www.elisabethelliot.org...who also became a huge spiritual mentor and mother to me.  I remember her telling me that Elisabeth Elliot was going to be speaking at the Tennessee Valley Women's Conference and i signed up to go.  I and a friend of mine followed Elisabeth Elliot around like a shadow soaking in everything we could at that conference. Funny, Elisabeth Elliot was very intimidating to me and not the easiest person to talk to one on one.  But when she spoke from the podium she was anointed with the Holy Spirit and the words of life GOD gave her fed our thirsty souls.   At that conference, this young wide eyed twenty  something year old was sitting on the front row listening to Elisabeth Elliot.  When Elisabeth got through speaking she came down and sat right beside me in the empty seat.  The conference leader asked us to turn to our right and massage the person's neck on our right...Elisabeth Elliot was on my right!  I was afraid to touch her and barely massaged her neck.  Then she said turn to your left and massage the person on your left...Elisabeth Elliot was massaging my neck now!  She had the firmest hands and gave me a great neck massage...later i read in one of her books that Jim Elliot's mom was a chiropractor and she had learned some things from her.  Funny, as i reflect on this...we named our son, John MacArthur, after Pastor John MacArthur, and we named our daughter, after Elisabeth Elliot...both spiritual mentor's that Mrs. Eudy introduced us too.

     Mrs. Eudy was a career woman herself when she got sick in her early 40's.  She had a bustling household with three children and she and her husband Eugene were in the midst of a busy life raising their children, working, ministering through their church, and taking care of their elderly parents.  Mrs. Eudy was Alabama's Young Woman of the Year, at one point.  She used to get up at 3:30 a.m. so she could have her quiet time and get everything done for her family before going to work as a professor at our local college.  She was beginning to work on her doctorate when GOD had another plan. Mrs. Eudy was bitten by a tick, and she got very, very sick.  Through numerous doctors,  she finally received a diagnosis, and was stabilized.  She was no longer able to teach and had to give up her career. Her life now was mostly at home, and when she was able she attended church.  Her husband and family cared for her now, instead of her being able to care for everyone as she once had.

    When i got sick, in my late 20's, Mrs. Eudy was there for me.  I remember calling her early in my sickness, bewildered by what GOD was doing to me.  She was always there for me, and she set a great example to me of how you can suffer and have a cheerful spirit.  She and her family always found a way to laugh at difficult circumstances and she is the epitome of the verse, "a cheerful heart is good medicine." 

  She became the greatest prayer warrior for our family praying for us so diligently through the years.  Who can know what our family and countless others, owe to her diligent and faithful prayers for us and our loves ones through the years.  Mrs. Eudy may have been limited physically in her ability to go and do like others, but GOD used her prayers to reach and move lives, including our family far, far beyond her four walls for all eternity.  

    When Mrs. Eudy gets out of rehab hopefully by the end of this week, she will be moving to Kentucky.  Her daughter has picked out a beautiful apartment for her in a CHRISTian facility, and she will be living close to her daughter now where her daughter and family  can help her easier.  In this time of transition, Mrs. Eudy has taught me more lessons...that of acceptance and trusting in the LORD.  It was difficult for her when she first learned she would be giving up her home, her church family, her bridge clubs, her beauty shop, and all that is familier to Mrs. Eudy to go and live in another place.  She called me when they first made the decision and it wasn't easy.  The origianl "plan" was to move her a couple of weeks ago, when GOD had a little detour planned, that of her emergency surgery.  During that time, her kids all came home and got their Mom's house ready to sell, and they have an offer on it possibly.  GOD has blessed us with Mrs. Eudy being in the hospital and rehab-because we have had time to go and spend with her before she moves on to the next place GOD has for her to love HIM and serve HIM.  GOD has also used this time to help Mrs. Eudy accept and trust HIM to do what is best for her life.  I have seen that transformation in her, and she has told me she has made a choice to be thankful and trust GOD.  I know those aren't just words...i can sense the acceptance and peace in her heart.  Tonight as i was tucking her in bed, and pulling the covers up over her shoulders, she looked at me and said, "I'm going to miss you, Mitzi."  With tears in my eyes, I  kissed her on the forehead and told her i am going to miss her too.   Then to lighten the moment i said," i am only a phone call away."  She laughed and said "yes, i'll be on Susan's plan now, and i can talk unlimited minutes" and we both laughed...she said, "Susan doesn't know how much i can talk on the phone!":). 

     I am so thankful i have another week to spend with this spiritual "giant," who has meant so much to me and my family and countless others, before the LORD moves her to minister to others, and to be ministered to by her family.  Please continue to remember Mrs. Eudy in your prayers as she waits on the LORD to renew her strength day by day, and as she leaves her home in Athens, for her home in Kentucky, on her way to her permanent home in heaven with CHRIST whom she has loved and served so very faithfully in sickness and in health.  

Mrs. Eudy with her son Michael on their annual family vacation last year.  The whole family gathers for a weekend of fun and fellowship over Memorial Day weekend at beautiful Joe Wheeler State Park...they've had this family tradition for years.

    Today at church, we sang this beautiful song called "All I Once Held Dear," by Robin Mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxpPIa-BskY.   It reminds me of Mrs. Eudy...and the TREASURE that she holds so dear in her frail body...the TREASURE of knowing JESUS CHRIST.  Her relationship with HIM has come at the loss of things she once held dear, but she will be the first to tell you, that HE is worth it all.   I hope you will take time to prayerfully listen to these words.   May the LORD use this song to draw each one of closer to HIM through the losses that each one of us goes through in this temporary life.  May our prayer truly be to "count all things loss for the sake of knowing CHRIST JESUS our LORD." If you don't know JESUS as your LORD and SAVIOR, you can ask HIM to forgive you for your sins today and invite HIM to come and live inside of you.  GOD loves you so much, HE sent JESUS to die for your sins and mine, that we might enjoy HIM now and forever.  He wants to have an intimate relationship with each one of us....HE loves us so much. 

    Thank you, dear prayer warriors for your continued prayers for Mrs. Eudy during her rehab and time of transition to her new home in Kentucky.  I love you and appreciate you so much.

A Bride, A Groom, and Treasuring CHRIST

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

   It's been a while since i've written...we've celebrated CHRISTmas, our son and his bride were married in a very beautiful and CHRIST centered ceremony, and we enjoyed Hannah Beth home for over a month.  She was blessed to go to Passion 2013 in Atlanta after the wedding and stay with her old roommate at Mobile who is now at Liberty University.  So thankful for her safe traveling journeys to Atlanta and back, and to Mobile and all.

    I want to thank all of my dear family and friends for coming to the wedding.  Your support was amazing!  Thank you, Tracy and Cheryl, Lee and Nick for coming in from Texas, Jill and Dennis, Lizzie and Jonathon, coming from Mississippi, Daniel and his girlfriend from Auburn and below B'ham, Dallas and Laurie from Florence...  So thankful for my brothers and their families from here being a part of our celebration.  Joe and Marilyn, thank ya'll for housing our out of town family who were home for the wedding and the holidays.  May the LORD richly bless you for your kindness and your hospitality.  I am very thankful that my Mom and Dad were able to be there along with many of  our friends.  Thank you for your very generous gifts to our children as they began their new life as one in CHRIST.  The past three weeks have been "crazy," as my son's wife said on her FB page yesterday trying to get settled in to being married, and for Amanda, a new apartment in B'ham, a new job at UAB, and a new place to do clinicals.  Please remember the newlyweds in your prayers as they study and work, and love each other and CHRIST and others. Last night i talked with my son for just a few minutes as he called to ask about a wedding gift.  They were working on thank you notes...so please be patient with them as they get the notes out.

    The wedding for me was a lot of fun...once i got there.  That morning my nurse called and asked if i wanted an IV. She said it was weird, she had some cancellations and i was further down on the list but she went to my name first. It was a little earlier than i usually get it but i did feel out of gas so i said yes.  I'm thankful the LORD provided it for me so that i could enjoy the wedding more. The IV went well and  I thought i had left myself plenty of time to get ready.  When i started to get ready i realized i couldn't find my strapless bra.  My dress wasn't strapless but it had these little skinny straps so i bought i REALLY NICE high dollar bra to wear under it at David's Bridal.  It would also hold parts of me in that are a little "rolly." Well, i just could not find that bra anywhere when i started getting ready, and was clueless to what i had done with it.  I prayed and ask the LORD to show me, to guide my eyes to it, and HE didn't.  I'm not sure why.  I could have gone and bought another one, but i was supposed to go by my gal's house that does my hair, and the place to buy the bra was after that.  I wanted to be dressed and ready to go after i left her house.  So the LORD put it in my heart to see if i could borrow one....and within 30 minutes, i had 3 strapless bras to take with me and surely i thought one of them would fit me.  

    We were supposed to be at the church for family pictures at 4:00 p.m. that afternoon.  Well the bra trouble put me behind about 30 minutes so i was running late.  By the time i got to my friend's house for her to help me with my hair and makeup, i was pretty stressed.  Walking in her house was like walking into peace, as she loves CHRIST, and her home and her countenance was just what a needed at that time.  She let me get dressed in the nursery where her sweet little baby boy sleeps, and i enjoyed looking at the prayers and encouragement she had written on the wall for her young son.  I told her when her son gets to be my son's age, she will still have those same hopes and desires for him, and she will be able to see some of them come true, as i was seeing my son's dreams come true, and the long time prayers for his wife since before he was born were being answered.  It was a good reminder to me, and brought tears to my eyes.  I started trying on the bra's and thankfully one of them fit, and along with the spanks that i have never one before, it held everything in pretty well.

     Sarah, my hairdresser, started curling my hair with her curling iron, and she helped me with my makeup, while her little baby boy laid sweetly in his little seat and played.  It was funny in an odd way...her little guy in his baby seat, and my little guy was getting married...today was his wedding day!   

    Once i left her house, i was running about 20 minutes late, but thankfully got to the church safely in downtown Huntsville and we had plenty of time for pictures.  I want to apologize to my family for not getting a family picture together with us all.  I just didn't have my head on straight, and i regret that we didn't get a big family picture when we were all there....please forgive me.  Once the pictures were over, we had a little time to just relax before the wedding.  I was so thankful my Mom and Dad were able to be there and they came right on time so that Mom could be seated first.  She looked so pretty in her red sparkly jacket my sis had bought for her.  She had had her hair fixed that day and Mom looked really pretty.  I really appreciate the effort my Mom and Dad made to be there.  I know she doesn't feel well, and it was a real sacrifice for her to come.  Daddy looked so proud that Mom had come with him.  

    By wedding time, we were all in line ready to be seated and everything was going well except at the last minute, i didn't have my bouquet i was supposed to take down.  Amanda's Mom sent her son down to see if i had left it in my seat up front and sure enough i had....so after that it was FUN!  

    We all got to walk down the aisle and it seems like a dream now.  My son looked so happy and handsome as he stood up there waiting for his bride to come and join him in marriage.  My husband was his best man, two of Amanda's brother's were groomsmen, my nephew, and a friend of JM's from church. The bridesmaids were beautiful in their plum dresses, and HB was one of the bridesmaids, along with Amanda's sis, and some others friends.  

     Amanda was the most beautiful bride as she walked down that aisle in her white dress on her Daddy's arm, and JM couldn't have been more radiant and pleased.  He had waited a long time for this day, and GOD had given him the desire of his heart.  

     After they repeated their vows to one another, they had a parent's prayer where we walked on the podium with them and Johnny and Amanda's Dad prayed for their marriage, while Lauren Haynes sang, "In CHRIST Alone."  It was a very special time for me and Johnny prayed a prayer of blessing from Numbers 6:24-26: "The LORD bless you and keep you, the LORD make HIS face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."  Johnny also prayed for them what the preacher prayed when we got married, that GOD would bless them with enough adversity to keep us humble, and enough happy times to keep us from being discouraged, or something like that.  Sometimes i wish Br. Mike hadn't prayed that adversity part for us:).   

   It wasn't long after the prayer that they were pronounced husband and wife and JM laid a big kiss on his new bride.  Br. Andy was so funny.  He asked them if that was their first kiss.   Who said homeschoolers didn't know how to kiss:)?

     The reception was a short distance away at an older home in the historic district.  It was really decorated beautifully and the food was overflowing with all kinds of sandwiches, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, hot chocolate bar, etc.  The wedding party came in and was announced to everyone, and then the fun began with the dancing.  I was sitting at the table with Br. Andy and his wife, and my friend Gena Spearing and her husband, when all of the sudden Gena said come on let's go dance!  Before i knew it was between her and her husband and several of the young folks attempting the "Cupid Shuffle." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExC1oGN5J28.  This is where i got  into some bra trouble again...the bra i borrowed didn't quiet hold everything up and in like the bra i had purchased.   I want to apologize to my family and friends for my dress showing more than it should have....for those of you who haven't seen me in a while, i haven't gone off the deep end, the dress was just a tad lower than i meant for it to be and with not as much support up top,....well, i did show some cleavage and i am sorry.    I did have the straps taken up so that wouldn't happen but it happened anyway....please forgive me for not being as modest as i should have been.

     Apart from the bra troubles, I had  a ton of fun dancing, and being with all of you who the LORD blessed us with to share this special time in our family.  There was a photo booth set up at the reception and everyone seemed to enjoy getting their pictures made in a crazy way for the scrap book for the bride and groom.  I was blessed to get mine made with my nephew Nicholas as we dressed up in crazy hats and glasses!  

    The bride and groom cut the cake and they got away fairly early and it was fun watching them walk down the hall together as everyone blew bubbles and begin their new lives together as husband and wife.  

    They spent their honeymoon in New York City, another longtime desire of John Mac's heart, to go to NYC. They were there for New Years Eve and were able to see the ball drop.  I think they had to wait 10 hours out in the cold to do that....without bathrooms!  

    We were thankful when they returned home safely and enjoyed getting to spend much time with them the following weekend hearing about their trip before they returned to school the following Monday to begin their news lives as one in CHRIST together.

  Please remember the newlyweds in your prayers as they settle in to school and work and as they look for a church home in B'ham.  

    My son sure did remind me of the love that CHRIST has for HIS bride the church, when he married the desire of his heart.  You could tell, they both treasured one another, him her, and her him.  CHRIST does treasure us and loves us so much HE left HIS home in heaven, as King of Kings, as the CREATOR of ALL, to humble HIMSELF, and  be nailed to a wooden cross so that we could become HIS treasures, and be redeemed from our sins and the flames of hell forever and ever.  HE asks us to forsake all, to count all things loss for the sake of knowing HIM....and TREASURE HIM.  Have you done that?  You can do it right now by confessing your sins and asking CHRIST to be your great TREASURE, forsaking all to follow HIM.

    HB returned to school this past Monday, and we enjoyed having her home so much over the long break.

 It's already been a stressful week for her....she had to make a perfect score on a Math test to be able to proceed on,  and thankfully she did,but her roommate and some other friends haven't been able to pass it yet.   She has Med Surg 2 this semester, her last semester of nursing school! Wow...please pray for her and her classmates as you read this.  She is planning to do a 5 week practicum in the emergency room.  She has accepted a job for the summer as Camp Nurse at Camp SAMBICA in Washington State...www.sambica.com.  This too, is a longtime desire of her heart, to go to camp.  When she was young, we didn't let her go to overnight camps...she went to day camps, and some overnight GA events, but never a full fledged camp.  Well, over CHRISTmas, my niece, who had been a counselor there mentioned she ought to go to Camp Sambica.  I didn't like where this was going...this was the same niece that said she ought to go to school in Mobile!  HB talked to her Daddy, and decided to apply for a camp counselor job.  Before she got out of bed the next morning, the camp director who doesn't usually do the hiring called and asked her to be the Camp Nurse!  She didn't feel confident about accepting that position since she doesn't have any experience but they reassured her she could do it, and there is a nearby hospital.  I have a wilderness first aid book she can take a crash course in when she gets closer to time to go.  She has a lot of schooling left before she starts thinking about all of that....but i am happy for her, and once again, as her Daddy explained, this is GOD giving her the long time desire of her heart.

     "Delight yourself also in the LORD, and HE will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart." Psalm 37:4

    I like to say "Treasure CHRIST," spend time with HIM in HIS WORD,  in prayer, obey HIM, and HE will put HIS desires in your heart. HE loves to fulfill those desires that HE has placed within our hearts to accomplish HIS plans and purposes.

 

    As i have written this GOD has led me in a completely different way to write than i thought i was going to when i started.  But HE has ministered to my heart, as i reflect and see the ways that HE has given both of my children long time desires of their hearts as they delight in HIM.  I know that you, like me, can reflect back on your life, and be thankful for desires of your heart the LORD has given you after many years of waiting...as i write, one pops in my mind, the Publix right down the street.  Many years ago i drove to Madison and further to get organic food, and i used to wish we had one in Athens.  A few years ago, GOD had one built down the street from our house and it has been such a blessing. Like me, you still have some of those desires unfilled, and that is where faith comes in, and waiting on the LORD, and trusting in HIM, to do and see and fulfill what we cannot.  I ask you to pray for me tonight, as there is a desire of my heart that has been there for several years, and i have prayed countless prayers for GOD to bring it to pass.  There are times when it seems GOD is about to do it, and then, i have to walk by faith and trust HIM when the bottom seems to fall out.  Thinking about GOD giving my son the desire of his heart, and my daughter the desire of her heart, sure does increase my faith.  It is always  such a blessing to reflect on GOD's faithfulness in the past, to help us to trust HIM for the future.

   

     This Sunday, the choir at our church is singing, "Knowing YOU," for the choir special.  As i was practicing it on the drums tonight and watching the video i was so blessed and i wanted to share it with you- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rl45JnnRSw .Over CHRISTmas i have started using my IPad during my Quiet Time to look up the images of verses i'm studying. You can do that by googling a verse, and just hitting "image," at the top.    One of the pictures i came across in my studies is of a great big beautiful diamond.  I look at that diamond and i think about CHRIST, our greatest TREASURE, and how i want to know HIM and love HIM more and delight in HIM.  I pray this song will be a great blessing to your heart as JESUS is to mine..."There is no greater thing, You're my all, You're the Best, You're my Joy,  my Righteousness, and I love you, LORD." 

    I have enjoyed a new blogsite i found over the holidays called "Treasuring CHRIST." I love the name of the blogsite...and i highly recommend it. The site is www.treasuring-christ.org  and it's all about helping us to treaure CHRIST above everything. I also found a great website to help you do Bible Study.  Its called www.preceptaustin.org and it has a fabulous library of conservative godly men like Charles Spurgeon, John MacArthur,  and so many more. It also includes some daily devotions.  Just a great site to help us "Treasure CHRIST," deeper and deeper.

    As i write this first email of the new year, i want to "Treasure CHRIST," deeper and deeper this year.  I have been discouraged a bit with my health because i haven't felt like getting off the couch and doing a lot, but in this time of not being energetic, i have spent much more time at the feet of my SAVIOR, learning to treasure CHRIST and count all things loss for the sake of knowing HIM.  That is a blessing, and i thank GOD for this time to sit at HIS feet.  While i hope to get more energetic, i know that GOD knows the measure of health i need to "Treasure HIM" and to accomplish the plans and purposes HE has for me at this season of my life.  Please pray for me, and for the wisdom of my doctors who are trying to help me.

    I love you and i really appreciate you taking time to read this email....and to be our friends and family.  Thank you so much for showing us the overflowing love of CHRIST to us through your dear lives.
